Looks like there's very little life left in my transmission. My poor Jeep can barely limp up my driveway and into my garage. It won't go beyoond first gear and it's grinding pretty bad.... looks like at 189,500 the transmission is officially cooked...

So... where can I get a cheap tranny for a ZJ?

Not budget tranny, I'll tell you that. I know a few sources where you can get an insane completely bulletproof tranny built, such as APS precision, but I've heard they run for 4 grand or so. I've also heard of others getting a remanufactured from Mopar which has some updated parts for $1600 + core fee (I think that's including shipping) - but it's a PITA to swap.

I've also heard great things aboug Gillece transmissions locally, but no one with a Jeep.

yeah, 2000 dollars for a 42re replacement is why i decided to convert my 95' ZJ over to a stick shift like my girl's 94' ZJ is

solid and reliable, can't beat a manual tranny :D
