New rig is a BLAST!!! Only 1 big change that needs to be done to the bike... Different front fork or chang out the springs. The springs arent really rated for my weight and I tend to bottom it out over really hard drops.

Dirty Harry's Scott should get a promotion with all the crap I have bought off of him this year...

Seven Springs Bike Park, they SHOULD have 4 more trails open by the end of September. Its nice to see the trail crew actually working on the trails as soon as they see a problem.

I kept telling Joe, its a whole different expierence riding a bike thats actually ment for the kind of abuse those trails can throw at you. Ryan, let me know if you want to head up there sometime, I typically go from like 12ish to 5.

i'm always up for going, but i'll stay off the downhill. the way my paragon is built right now it just won't take it. if we go ride the park i'll put the old wheels back on too.

Just rent a bike, no sence in destroying your bike for that. You will have more fun that way, besides how will you keep up with me on the expert terrain! :043:

LOL, i'm already scared man :)

i know you just got your new bike, but if you want to go hit some XC trails let me know. i'll be up for some this week after work.

do you have a light yet? i have a trail rat you can borrow, but it sucks compared to the HID.

and i'm really glad i didn't go LED. i just can't see going less bright than HID, even if they are lighter.

the rear hub on my Fisher is bent, I have to go get it looked at first. When the rear wheel is spinning you can see all the sprockets out back wobble. :013: Its probably from doing the DH on it. :087:

:082: nice! My boss tried talking me into buying a dirtbike too, I was thinking more so along the lines of a supermoto, but id probably break it and not be able to ride it home.

WTF? Does he have his bike carrier mounted to the wall?

lol no, it's just his rack sitting on it. we're building bike stands. decided tonight as we upgraded kim's bike :)

her bike got a race crank, carbon bars, select stem, new seat, race stem, race disc wheels, and some beefier mythos tires :054:

not bad upgrades for freeeee.

but ya, defenitely need some stands.

oh with all this $ you're spending, did you get a light yet?

08-19-2008, 09:25 AM
hehehehe... yep, thats my hifi... finally I get to use my living room for something constructive! I have a lot of new bling going on though, so need to get everything collected and start installation :)

I wanted a stinky SO Bad when i first went to DH to buy my hifi. I still think it would be a blast, but for what I have now, 5" of travel front/rear and hopefully a sub 25lb bike is fast enough! I couldnt imagine going faster on something like a stinky! I just need to get more comfortable in the air and then i'll think about getting something.

jeepxj3
08-19-2008, 09:55 AM
Bigger suspension makes the air time more comfortable. Its easier to make mistakes on and recover, I cant tell you how many times I have landed the stinky squirley and rode out of it... Jumps I would have yard-saled on my Fisher, come out clean! Its an amazing bike to ride.

My fatass hasn't been on a bike in a, hmmmm, few years. I should get out there though. Maybe it'd help my high chlosterol. I just have a shitty Mongoose not one of those high tech rigs that cost thousands. Back in the day if you had a mongoose you were the shit (the 80s). The days of Mongoose, Diamond Back, Haro, Redline. They weren't mountain bikes though.

We're riding the allegheny passage this spring. Pittsburgh to DC. :)

it's a LOT of fun riding those things! suprised the hell outa me!

hehehe both my bikes are sub 24 lbs :)

the SS rigid is a BLAST. imagine a BMX bike on steroids!

i never would have believed it either untill i built one. I'm going to run some 29x2.55's tubeless so that'll help with the rigid. right now i'm 2.25 front 2.3 rear running at low pressure, but i've had a pinch flat already.

if we ever go ride again i'll let you take it for a rip. it's seriously a blast. You dont' think, you just pedal! i swear i'm faster on that SS than the paragon!

urbanek's full sus is down to 23.xx lbs! it's crazy. and it's got PLENTY of travel for what we do.

it's single pivot, so you don't want to do any big hits with it, but it's still the best of both worlds IMHO.

i'm seriously thinking about a stumpjumper FSR for next year as something to add to the collection.

if you only knew.

just the front fork for example. The offset of the front crown 10mm can completely change how the bike handles.

tiny changes make huge differences.

I get to do the best of both worlds, no reason to knock it! I use to race back when I was in HS, I only recently got back into it. Keep in mind its also a good way to stay healthy! Sitting behind the driver seat doesnt help. I just love to be outside, always have. Im pretty proud of myself, I lost 10lbs that I have been carrying around with me since college! I feel better than ever, I can attribute it all to biking.
