I know a few of us discussed doing some shooting tomorrow. I am game. When? Where?

MF Steve!
11-28-2008, 02:35 PM
In. Don't care where...

Bill
11-28-2008, 03:16 PM
I need to run out and get some ammo tonight. I dont have any targets either, so we will need those as well. I don't care where or when we go, as long as there is shooting involved.

MF Steve!
11-28-2008, 03:36 PM
I'm goin shopping in a little for a zombie removal device. Maybe I'll have something fun for tomorrow!

Harley25
11-28-2008, 04:19 PM
I was convinced today to purchase a competition pistol for $2,500. Not gonna get it for a few months but it's an $8,000 set up.

Bill
11-28-2008, 05:22 PM
If I am spending $2500 on a gun it will be for this:
http://www.theshootersbox.com/store/images/firearms/dpms_RFA2-ACAR.jpg

(About $1800 for the gun)

... and with the leftover $700 I would buy some p-mags, ammo, case, and targets (that look like zombies, of course.)

WTF is it? IMHO you would be better off spending the money on several different guns.

I'm rather pissed...can't find one ANYWHERE. THIS IS ****ING BULLSHIT.

Bill

I have shot the gun before...the guy shoots IPSC and normally qualifies for national tournaments very year. He actually said he would let me take my choice of his 3 competition pistols. Honestly its a very good deal for what he has into any of them. This guy knows his stuff and he is who I first started shooting with. He wants me to buy the gun from him and start entering tournys.

Bill

We are meeting at my place at 10am and going from there. Plenty of ammo and guns heading out, but additional firearms are always welcome. Anyone interested in going is welcome to attend.

MF Steve!
11-29-2008, 10:21 AM
Bang bang bang bang. I'm stopping at Federal Firearms right now. I have my XD40, my Mossberg500A Zombie slug shooter, a Ruger target 25-06, and lots of ammo.

Already went. Going to Elite Firearms in Hermitage now to play with full autos and possibly buy an AR.

I am in VA. What did you guys buy?

MF Steve!
11-29-2008, 07:07 PM
Bill bought a DPMS m-4 carbine, and I bought a Double Star Inc. Star-15 lightweight. His was $1030, and mine was $800, both out the door.

DMG
11-29-2008, 07:14 PM
Excellent... hopefully we can shoot tomorrow.

Bill
11-29-2008, 07:19 PM
Oh we will shoot tomorrow. We are on the way out to buy ammo. 500 rounds of .223 for $189.00 at Dunhams.

Bill
11-30-2008, 01:18 AM
For the record... The military packaged .223 ammo that is such a good deal at Dunhams actually turned out to be Wolf Brand ammo re-packaged. I should be able to tell you how it shoots in less than 24 hours. I had some trouble running the Wolf ammo through my HK USP 40 a while back, and I am hoping this is not going to be a repeat.

As Steve said when he found out it was Wolf:

"I am sure it will still kill zombies."

MF Steve!
11-30-2008, 01:28 AM
Yes...die zombies, die. Is it time to go shoot? I'm ready!

DMG
11-30-2008, 02:45 AM
ARs do not like the coating on Wolf. It gums them up, I hear.

Wrecker
11-30-2008, 10:05 AM
Yeah my brother said the samething. Wolf brings the suck.

Bill
11-30-2008, 10:07 AM
I hope that you are wrong, but I fear you are not. There are a bunch of folks over on AR15.com that love the stuff, and just as many that are not fans.

The 500 rounds for under $200 is a great price, but I fear it is not going to be a good deal in the end.

MF Steve!
11-30-2008, 10:39 AM
Too bad their casings are too shitty to re-load from what I hear.

Bill

I would agree with that statement. They use a steel casing that is crappy.

Bill
11-30-2008, 03:02 PM
We will have to try it out and see... I read some ammo reviews this morning and they were 99% positive about the Wolf ammo in the ARs, specifically DPMS ARs.

The rain is screwing up my shootin'!

MF Steve!
11-30-2008, 04:45 PM
As I look around on my new favorite forum...Wolf just seems to be a hit or miss amongst users. I'll give it a shot.

MF Steve!
11-30-2008, 05:33 PM
As for magazines...I'm ready to say F the P-mag, and get some Lancer L5's. Everyone says they're pretty much comprable but the L5 has a metal feeder lip to keep it from eventually cracking. Plus, you can find them in stock right now much easier.

Bill
11-30-2008, 07:44 PM
I called pretty much every decent local shop I know today looking for P-Mags. The only place that even carried them was Anthony Arms, but they had none in stock. I think I am just going to order 10 online, even though they are backordered, and when they come in they come in.

I can't decide on a front handrail at the moment. That is my current dilemma. There are other accessories that I want, but without a new handrail I really can't do much.

MF Steve!

I have a post in the mods section talking about re-organizing the board. This is one of the issues that I would like to address.

If we are going to roadtrip to the gunshow we should probably leave Friday evening and get a hotel. We want to get there early Saturday morning before all the p-mags are gone (ask Wrecker about it, he knows what I mean.)

MF Steve!
11-30-2008, 11:55 PM
Its not that far away. I'd rather leave early in the morning than waste 3 p-mags worth of money on a place to sleep.

Hey Steve

The problem with re-loading the steel cases are, that the steel will not re-size back to size, the way a brass one will. You may be able to do it but it will take a toll on your sizing die. The steel will also crack much sooner. Hope you don't get a broken steel case in your chamber. Good Luck

Yeah, I read a large thread on AR15.com about it. They explain the tolls the steel casings take on re-loading equipment, along with cracking, corrosion, and other issues. I doubt I'll actually re-load anything steel. I may have to pick your brain about getting in to reoading affordably.

You can save a lot reloading. Have you gone to Cheaperthandirt.com That is where I get all my Ar-15 ammo. U.S. made Lake City 62 grain green tip. SS 109. I have not found it cheaper anywhere. Let me know if you have any question about re-loading.

There is a gunshow this weekend in Niles, Ohio (right outside of Youngstown.)

45 minutes away is a little closer than Harrisburg and better than that it is THIS WEEKEND!!! (I really want to purchase some accessories for the AR and I am fiending to do it.)

So, gentlemen, who is up for a gunshow this weekend? I am thinking Saturday?

Hell, it almost looks like a real gun. I would shoot you if I came to your door and you had one of those.

Then again, you might shoot back... I am thinking even one of my little guns would do more damage than that. The funny thing about toy guns is that they normally use toy ammo. At best that thing is shooting pepper balls - which is still enough to get you killed.

It's not a paintball gun and it doesn't shoot paintballs per say. It's make by FN. It's what the Boston PD used after the World Series and ended up killing a lady.

These are the rounds.

I own it because I know the designer and I had the chance to get it. I have it as a collectors item.

"The primary effect is trauma" - it might not shoot bullets, but don't shoot me with it anyway.

Still enough to get ya dead. If you are going to use less than lethal force you should always have more than enough lethal force available just incase the sissy stuff doesnt work out.

That's why you can remove it from the stock. It slides nicely on a picatinny rail.
