If I go it'll most likely be on my fisher hard tail with a five inch travel fork. i should be able to hold on

I would most likely rent a dual suspension bike from them. Once I get a new fork I could bring my bike but I think it would be easier and better to rent a dual from them.

I'm young and stupid. I've done plenty of urban drop offs and stairs with a hard tail. I can still hold on

my .02 if you're on the hard tail. stick to the beginner trail. if not for yourself then for all the people who know what they're doing blowing by your.

Like going to rays with a road bike.

I would think that a hardtail would be fine on some of the smoother trails without alot of drops and rocks. It would also be fine on the jumps just when you start to get to some of those rock drops and stuff like that it wouldn't be too fun.

rocks really aren't a problem and if you watch most people who dirt jump it's on a hard tail

have you been to seven springs before?

i took my hard tail and stuck to the beginner stuff. Even the beginner stuff is fun. imagine your favorite downhill on a fun XC trail. That's what it's like.

the more hardcore stuff you really should have a bigger bike.

If you're up to it, cool. but people are going to be annoyed with you bumbling down the trail while they're hauling ass by.

yeah I raced Month of Mud at 7 springs but that was before they opened the downhill park. Obviously i'm not going to be able to do huge drops but I'm fairly certain i can send the tables and ride the ladder ramps

The type of hard tail will change how well one can keep up. I am fairly certain that on my dirt jumper hard tail with 2.5" tires,5" travel fork and a 13" frame, I can manage to keep up fairly well. Now if it is a someone on a 29er that is sized right for XC use, then that is another story. That bike with it's steep head tube and seat tube will want to pitch the rider over the bars the whole time and will be totally unstable. I know I can do any of the drops or jumps up there on my hard tail. Hell, I did it all on a 5" XC geometry full suspension bike. My dirt jumper is much more stable than that bike.

yeah I know i'm going to be able to bomb the runs on my hardtail. It's an 03 Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo which is xc geometry but people act like it's the end of the world since i want to ride a hardtail on downhill trails. Maybe I will crash and burn but it will make for a good video. I guess we'll see ya what happens

Yea, you might be better off renting a bike. You'll have a lot more fun on something that has more relaxed geometry than your bike.

Anyone hit the springs yet? I was up there both Saturday and Sunday, they opened up a new part on EC1, twards the bottom. After the rock drop under the chair lift you have the option to go right or left now, going left takes the same trail as before, but go right and there is allot more rocks and drops before the trails meet up again. I enjoyed it, more technical through the woods. I rode it clean about 4 times, the turn at the end of EC is still very difficult coming out of the woods. They plan to use it for the pro curcuit next week for the races. Anyone going? I might just go to watch since a few of my friends will be in it.
