i would look into by-passing the key ignition completely and figure out a way to make it a push button start with an on/off switch. and i do believe you have to use the clutch to start it...

do you see an interlock button in there on the dash? holding that in will let you start it. but another place to look besides the 4x4parts forum is also nissan4wheelers.com and nissanoffroad.com lots of guys over there with hardbody's... sure someone could help you.
and sucks about the frame. i bought one in high school for 1300 bucks and the frame was destroyed. i'll post some pics later wen i get home from work and let you see how bad mine was. it can be fixed though if you got the space, time, steel, and tools lol.
