Sounds good make sure you post lots of pics of that aussie locker install on your 30 i wanna do that to my TJ!
Today
Rear axle dropped
Rear brake lines disconnected. Broke the hard line running to the rear axle.
Leaf packs dropped and split. Left the Main on the XJ.
Split the Dakota pack.
Rear hitch installed. (Let me tell you how nice it was to have those brand new factory nut strips Kyle!)
Tires mounted.
Bought rear brake pads, adjusters and hardware. Also bought green line to replace the hard line.
Rear shocks removed.
Broke all 4 top shock bolts. Knocked them out with an air hammer. Will be fishing 1/4 20 x 3/4 bolts from the top with a piece of wire.
Bought relay and toggle for fan switch.
Tommorow
Get Dakota leafs cut down at Wilson Works.
Install leaf packs.
Install hard line and Dakota rear brake line.
Looks good! Sounds like an action packed weekend.
Mj- on jack stands
ok rear leafs are on and they definately gave me about 4.5" of lift.
Rear brakes are rebuilt.
Dakota line is on
Hard line is ran
Not sure how much lift the gave me since I forgot to measure in the first place. Its definately lifted more though.
I need a measurement of a stocker from the gorund to the top of the tail light box. Or the same from someone on 33's and knows how much lift they got. That would work to I think.
Is this rig going on the road? Sure looks like my bare bones budget build! Looks good.
Could have saved money with F150 coils or V8 ZJ coils in the front and spacers.
I saved money by welding new shock mounts on the axles and using slightly longer JK shocks I got for free.
Check out my cheap sway bar disconnects - http://ritor.rit.edu/doku.php?id=che...ck-disconnects
Looks good! I'll be doing similar work next week since I have 10 days off! Woohoo!
You should come out to my place if your junk is ready to go and we can have an XJ beating session.
I measured and it gave me 4" in the rear. SYE is planned but not for this weekend. I have to have this ready to go by Tuesday. Wont be able to get one and get it in by then. IF I get vibes Ill drop the TC as a temp fix and a SYE will be ordered within a month.
Supposedly pre '96 doesnt need the SYE under 4.5". We will see.
Rig will be daily driven to work and back only, about 4 miles one way. Though Wed Ill be driving 3 hours to the Jambo.
I didnt want it to ride too rough with the f150 coils and I was trying to stay away from spacers. I got the Rustys coils for a good deal on Ebay. I thought I had picked up JK Rubicon shocks but they are only JK shocks so I was worried they wouldnt fit. So I just ordered a cheap set so I didnt have to be worried about it. They have to be better then the 200,000+ suspension that was on it. Dont have the time to cut and weld the mounts right now. I got discos from a buddy for $15 awhile back. I think they are rough country but they will work for now.
I think Im booked up until like the 20th of July. After that Ill come play. Hedds should have her XJ by then as well.
Rear drums rebuilt
Dakota line is on
New green line ran from front to rear
Rear is done except for the shocks.
Sits at 4" above stock.
Front
Axles are pulled.
Discos are on.
Shocks are almost off.
Bought new drivers side caliper and brake pads.
Diff is drained.
Shocks are out. New ones should be here tommorow.
Track bar is out. New one should be here Tuesday.
Springs are out.
New caliper on.
Not much more to do. Aussie locker, track bar, springs, shocks, front hitch and WJ LCA's. Then I can start on the WJ. I need to replace a TRE on the trac bar axle side. Also today as I was heading to get more parts for the XJ the rear ujoint caps came off and let loose from the yoke. Caused a violent jerk while going over a bridge at about 45mph. Guess I need to fix that too. FML.
WJ LCA's are in and clearanced for a little more droop.
Ill post pics of what I have tommorow night. I left the camera at the garage.
Still going strong.
I got some really cheapo rough country shocks and got them in the mail today. As I was putting them on a friend stopped by with a gift. 4 Rubicon Express shocks. The fronts are about 1.5" longer and the rear are about .5" shorter but Im going to use them anyways since they are gas charged.
Aussie is in. The tolerance was a little low but it should be ok.
Front brakes are rebuilt.
Brake lines straightened.
Aux fan switch is done.
Front shocks are mounted.
trac bar is on at axle side.
It will be done tonight. Not much more to do now.
Finished up at 6:45AM Im at work now. Im soo tired. Ill try to get pics up tonight before I leave for the Jambo! If not, when I come back for sure.
Never posted pics, here they are. Nothing major to complain about.
The WJ LCA's are getting bent up on top where the spring perch hits. It performs great for what it is.
Ive been wheelin the piss out of it so its gotten a little banged up. The front doors are normally off but its been raining alot lately.

I have them setup so I can just lift them off now. It takes about 3 minutes to get them off and 5 to get them on.
I'll be home after August 10th if you want to hit up some good wheeling spots out in my area.
kinda sus
taking unsafe rigs to a whole other level
