the one in the rubicon will be a powertech 4.0 l... they have completely different castings. they switched in y2k from what i have been researching. i have been giong thru this with my grand cherk over the last week.
i have one that runs good, if i part out the grand i will have an engine for you.
Thanks for the info, I was not sure if they were different.
Easiest way to tell if the motor will work for you is just by looking for coil packs. They were introduced on the PowerTech 4.0L IIRC.
that is somewhat correct, but i found a zj engine that had coilpacks (head is different for coilpacks vs. distributor too) that was not a powertech block. i am gettin sick of 4.0's lately, these things have soooo many little changes it isnt funny.
look for cast in bosses on the drivers side front of the block just above the oil pan to mount the A/C compressor... biggest consistent telltale thing i found
