    First day of archery

Here I sit in the woods about 16ft in the air in my tree longer checking posts on my blackberry and enjoying a cup of coffee....

It was a beautiful morning in the woods. I never saw a deer but the sunrise was worth it. Unfortunately my morning was cut short by work!

I let a lil 8 point go saturday. Nice spread, short tines. So far I've seen about 40 doe and 5 bucks. Starting out to be a pretty good year. Can't wait for the rut.

this morning my cousin saw the biggest buck ever seen by either of us. he said it had around a 2' spread and tines tall as 12''

for this area ... a place commanly full of basket racks and under 6pts ... this is a monster !!! can't wait for middle to end of this week when the rut picks up more !

tuesday is the full moon ..... deer movement should increase ..... for bucks at least.

So how's everyone doing with a day left to go?

My buddy got a nice 8pt up at my camp in Titusville. Big buck for those woods. I saw him twice but he wouldn't come in range.

I missed a nice heavy racked 8 point near North Park earlier this week. Hit a little effing tree limb I didn't even see until I heard my arrow slap off of something and cruise over the big bruiser's back. Dammit had him dead to rights and blew it.

Got a nice 130lb doe first day of the season.

Might go back out tomorrow and see if I can get a second crack at screwing up.

I'm a big loser, I shot a doe the second weekend and saw 8-10 bucks but never got to let an arrow fly.

Passed on sum doe, and couldn't get a shot at a nice 8pt that is a left over from last season, nice heavy rack, almost perfect typical, gained sum weight since last year, won't come inside 45yds and that is too far to shoot imho. I'll have to try and get him with the rifle or smokepole looks like, unless I get lucky tomorrow morning....
