Rough idle for few seconds after startup

I need some help diagnosing this issue.

For the past couple of months i've noticed a slight change in the idle when stopped or parked. It would occasionally rumble but very lightly and every 1-2 seconds. It would appear normal to anyone else but i can tell myself that it didn't idle like this before. Now it's starting to idle rough, motor rocking and tossing the jeep, when I first start it up until the oil pressure reaches normal, about 3-5 seconds. It starts up just fine and then idles normally after this happens. What could be causing such an erratic and rough idle the second you start it up and only for a few seconds?

    It's a 2001 XJ.

    Thanks!

hey on my xj and dakota the iac valve on the throttle body would get gunked up so i removed them and cleaned them GENTLY with a q-tip. just be careful to not push the plunger in. but after cleaning it solved my idle problem plus a little seafoam down the intake just my 2 cents

Mine was doing similar shit, cleaned IAC and throttle body and it was ok for a while, then it started again, then the CPS just gave up. replaced that and it was ok, then it started doing it again. and now.. She just fixed herself I guess. I hear that the inline six isn't the smoothest engine anyway.

    clean your iac and throttlebody.

Seems like the new ford injectors solved this issue. I guess my oem's were leaking or something causing a rough idle at start up. Now it starts up very nicely.

good to know mine is doing it again... going to check the throttle body again, but I may need to swap the injectors I guess.

I see you fixed it. I was gonna say stop by the shop. I also got that guy from Cherokeetalk all fixed up too. They BUTCHERED his exhaust worse than yours.

Oh yeah he told me about that. I recommended ya cuz you did a great job on mine and he's happy now.

Yup, slapped in new injectors and it's all good, for now. I wondered what was wrong with my old ones. Leaking perhaps? hmm...I still have em so maybe i'll slice em half and see what's inside. Don't those oem injectors have mini filters in them?
