Casparis today with the Land Rovers

Went out today with a couple Land Rovers. We didn't spend too much time up there but it was awesome!

    And the rest. http://www.angrymanstudios.com/photo...2010/index.htm

    Thanks Mark.

It was slick today under all the snow. It's supposed to warm up late week. It might melt some of the snow. I don't know how many trails we'll be able to run but it should be worth the trip up there.

I did, the two Rovers did not. I winched one up and then we called it a day and headed back down.

Last time Tom made it over the big rock, and his buddy with the Chevy made the bypass, rest of us had to throttle the hell out of it to even make the extreme left trail, I was just curious. I Cross country skiid up near kooser all day today, great day to be out and about. Awesome Pics as usual.

When I was down at Uwharrie in October there was a group of Rovers. They were mainly Discos, but there was a brand new one with em (wasnt a Range..idk what else they make here haha) and I remember seein quite a few on the way to/from the trails.

I have a 96 Range Rover. I've done a little trail riding with it at camp but I don't think I would classify it as "wheelin'".....It came with EAS - Electronic Air Suspension that would adjust the height of the vehicle based on various settings and such. However it was extremely problematic, and when it fails you ride on your bumpstops. Mine had been fitted with a Bilstien coil kit conversion when I bought it.

It's a tank. Too big IMHO for much serious wheeling. But has full time AWD with a dedicated low range gear set (has P, R, N, D, 3,2,1 for the Low selector). I believe it has D44's on both axles, but haven't checked them in person. Not a ton of hp but the Buick derrived 4.0 aluminum V8 has some pretty good torque. Kicks azz in the snow. Sightlines are great out of it.

The bad, if stuff breaks, and it does/will, its not cheap to fix and everything is controlled by a BECM body control module. If that farts out, you got a 2.5 ton yard ornament until it's fixed ($$$$).

So, we have it as a winter beater/occasional tow rig/dog transporter mostly.

Range Rover is a model made by Land Rover. I think the downfall with Rovers (and pretty much everything British lol) is electrical gremlins. That being said, I'd LOVE to have a Defender.

Land Cruiser is the Toyota. The FJ40 is the one that looks like a Jeep...they were made in the 70s iirc. All the post 40 series Cruisers are SUVs.
