Read up and edumacate yourself, I don't think that anything has changed up there. If you really want to explore it, your gonna have to do it on foot. Park at Mill Run Reservoir, hike down the old Indian Creek Valley Railroad grade, from the parkin area to the yough is 7mi one way

If he has keys to the property, I'm gonna assume we were legal.

Its not worth the cash to pay to get in the gate and Leon Shal is scum. He owns the access point to the road, not all the property.

I'm friends of the criders on sandy flats. They own most everything on the right side of the road. There's a logging road directly across from bluehole I wad told I can use as access. Need alittle cutting to fit though.

Tax site, just shows them owning about 60 acres up there, once you go through there property, it butts up against Stone and Co.'s holdings down to the creek. Just saying, tax site may not be updated though, PM any details you have, this is interesting.

*edit, I looked at the wrong parcel, the right parcel looks to be 7 acres and is better than the one I thought.

I think we've met them (father and son) at the meeting about the land being gated off in 2007 - very nice guys. If that could work out it'd be fantastic.

Leon Shal is an asshole. Before the gates, while it was still a PUBLIC road, he constantly tried charging us an entrance fee. He often called the police (to which they told him to bugger off.)

I actually logged it for about 10yrs. Ago. I'm sure we could have some fun on the old skidder roads as well. Hafta go have a chat soon. I miss going there.

i would help out too. turns out my mum is on board with keeping land open, re-opening old land, and making more legal places to wheel, so i might have a chance to grab the blazer for a quick trip to help cut the trails.

I was there in late december. Myself and 2 other guys went in on foot and hiked down to the creek. I had never been there before. Its a pretty neat place especially whats left of the old town of hampton. We were actually able to climb down into the basement of one of the old buildings. There is a huge coal fireplace in the corner of the basement. I believe this building to have been a general store or something along those lines. There's sidewalks still exposed, the foundations to many houses, and most of the towns plumbing if you look close enough.

It was probably the A.C. Stikel Co. Store. that place is neat. I hiked in last feb. which was a mistake with all the snow, beautiful murderous hike in and out but too much snow to do any proper exploring.

The town was at the delta of the creek where it enters the yough. It's really cool down there. To think it was a rather thriving town 100 years go.

Even if you find a way down to the road, bypassing the gate, that still does not make it legal. When the road was given up, the land was turned over to the surrounding land owners. Most likely the land that the road is on is owned by the water company.

Bottom line, if you go down there in a vehicle and get caught, don't be shocked if you end up with a trespassing fine.

Town was on opposite side of the creek as the old hawkins hollow railroad grade. You have to cross the railroad bridge at the mouth of the creek to get to it.
