    Twin sticked 300

So I'm laid off and had the great idea to finally twin stick my 300. Has anyone did a homebrew twin stick or have links to detailed instructions? It can't be that hard right?

I am doing mine right now as well. I am making cable shifters though. Unless you ar gonna pull out the detent balls it is very straight forward.

Really there's no reason to do this on a 300. With the detent balls in place there is no way you can get one axle in high range and the other in low. Granted you have to mess around with the shifters to get in front wheel drive but it's not that bad at all. My vote is to not mess with the detents.

I believe this will let you do a front dig easier and still prevent you putting the front in high and the rear in low. (gibby already posted this link)http://www.4x4wire.com/tech/dana300/
it is not such a big deal if You are just running a d300, but if you plan on running a crawl box and it is enguaged in low, this would make the front or rear dig easier. Unless I am missing somthing I have been reading alot and plan on doing this mod to my 231/300 when I start on it, hopefully sooooooon!

Mine's been doing fine for the last 5 years. Granted I don't have the doubler, etc that the article talks about but neither do the two guys discussing the topic. Plus the case needs disassembled. I have yet to need Front wheel drive hi on the trail. My front digs are done in first or maybe 2nd gear (75:1 or 30:1 crawl)

The 2wd hi front is the only reason I can see to do the detent removal. Personally I don't think I will need it, so no case dissasembly for me lol!

you can achieve front wheel low, but not hi. so you can get 4 hi, 4 lo, rear hi, rear low, and front low. theres a way to modify the shift rails to get the block outs from getting one hi and one low, but still get all of the options.

Digs are the best reason to twin stick! Front 2 low is awesome for tight trails.

i'm hesitant with the fact that I still have a d30 in the front, locked, with 35x14.50 boggers and a v8

I've been told that my front end will grenade as soon as I lock it into 4 wheel. I've been out once and my front end is still together, however I have been babying it. Maybe if I ever get back to working steady hours I'll be able to swap in 44's or tons
