    Project: Knotty Pine

    Well here it goes,

Another winter another build. As most of you guys know I finished my TJ on New Year's Day 2009. Well it's been a year and its time for something different so my TJ is back under the knife for some slight modifications.

    Here's how it started:

4.5" RE SF lift (anyone wanna buy a sweet lift?) 1" BL on 35's.

    Plans are:
    Ditch the short arms
    Dana 60 rear
    Dana 44 front
    2.5" YJ Leafs all around
    Sprung over
    Stretched rear ~5"
    H1 Rims
    37X12.50X16.5's
    Relocated fuel tank
    STREET LEGAL DD

Here's some pics of day one.

Yes those are pine logs, yes they're the only thing holding the Jeep up, yes the negative battery terminal is off along with the parking brake fully engaged. And yes I am perfectly safe. I think.

Axles coming out along with shocks, springs, trackbars, panhard bars, and all the other nonsence.

It'll be in a sealed box don't worry. I'll eventually have a fuel cell in there but for now it's getting built into the back. And it will be properly ventilated and have the evap and everything hooked up. If you have enought fumes coming out of your fuel system that its going to explode or catch on fire there's something wrong with your setup!

I've used logs myself as jack stands, but they are like 18" or more in diameter, and sometimes already layed down. Those look a little to narrow for me to get under there, one good push and it looks like she'd roll them logs, jmo.

Believe me there was ALOT of pushing and pulling to make sure they were sturdy. My buddies din't trust me already so everyone made sure they were safe. The front and rears are ~10" and the skids are ~14"

So long as it is sealed up it should not be a problem. I hooked back up all of the vent lines. the only thing I had to lenghten was the fuel pump wires. even the fuel line was long enough, I just had to straighten it out and shove it up through a body grommit.

Good luck Jesse! It will be nice when its done. Nothin wrong with you using logs as jackstands, as long as your comfortable with it not goin anywhere thats all that matters, we ain't climbing under it LOL. Ive used logs before like that, just gotta be smart about how you use them and use a lot of them it won't go anywhere if there big enough diameter.

Oh BTW this is for you and your lil pic caption , My Husky is done while your Stihl sawing LOL.

Find yourself a tool truck and get on the easy payment plan for some jack stands. But the logs should be alright, I've used worse at junkyards.
