    Adirondacks 3-1-08 to 3-3-09

    I am tired...

Monday myself and 7 other RIT guys hiked from the Adirondack LOJ to the permanent lean-to's at Marcy Dam (2 miles) and stayed the night in our -20 sleeping bags.

Tuesday (yesterday) we climbed up whale tail trail and then went to Wright Peak. From there we went to Algonquin Peak, and crossed over it down the opposite side to Colden Lake. From there we hiked across Avalanche Lake and through Avalanche Pass back to Marcy Dam for the night (like 9 miles over 10 hours with 3000 ft elevation change going one way).

The next morning (today) we hiked out and proceeded to the McDonalds in Lake Placid which we decimated. They got there just in time to order breakfast and lunch at the SAME TIME. Perfect.

    Wright peak

same peak as above (Wright), viewed from next peak over, to put things into scale, all those little dots on the peak are the pine trees

2nd highest peak in NY, Algonquin

going down Algonquin peak, with Iroquois in the background

avalanche lake, named for obvious reasons

took this one up Avalanche pass, looking up at the avalanche slope, from the bottom, where a path has been cut through the mess of trees at the bottom deposited by slides

Those pics are awesome but I still wouldn't think it would take over a year to hike that. I bet I could do it in like 3 days!!!

Anytime there is snow ride up to Kooser State Park and you can see a ton of dipsticks on snowshoes LOL. I feel like the only person in the universe that has cross country skis when i'm up there LOL

I was thinking the same thing. I'm lazy, but a year to cover a few miles? what did you do, take a step then drink a beer, take a step then drink a beer?

Awesome pics. Looks like fun except for the walking part....
