    Reputable shop for gear install?

Are there any good places local to Greensburg to have gears installed? The '99 XJ I just bought has 33's on it, but still has the stock gearing. At some point I'll have to get that taken care of and want to go with 4.56's.

When I had my TJ I took it to Peters Off-Road in OH, but I don't think he's around anymore and I don't want to drive that far either...

I'm also going to throw an Aussie or Lockrite in the back eventually, but I can do that myself, I'd rather just have a shop do the gears for now (Unless the price would be right on doing it all at once)

    Thanks

    Mark

When was the last time he worked on something for you? I heard he was in a wheelchair and shut down the shop. I have no clue if this is true but I heard it from a couple people.

He is not in a wheel chair, I was just out there about 3 weeks ago still doing gears, but he was going to charge me twice as much as Greensburg Machine to set my gears. He is crazy expensive. i get alot of parts off him those are pretty reasonable but labor is insane.

That's good to hear. I've been down there a few times to pick up parts.

That's about right, $200-$250 an axle, especially if they are still on the vehicle.

In the vehicle or out If the axles are still on the truck that seems reasonable if you are dropping off the housings to the guy so he can swap gears that seems high. I had mine done by on of the best gear guys I know (Greensburg Driveline) and it was 150 labor. Per Axle

It is more of a pain in the ass if the axels are out of the vehicle. If it is out you have to lift a have axel around. It is not solidly mounted to somthing which makes pulling unit bearing and yokes, crushing a crush coller harder. I would much rather have the axel in the vehicle.JMHO

Try calling aamco transmission in Lower Burrell. When I was looking to get gears put in my 30, Mike (big mike) the owner said they could do them. He has a good reputation in the drag-racing world, so I would not hesistate to let him work on my Jeep. I cant remember how much he wanted to do them, but I want to say it was around $175.

Greensburg Driveline charges less if its out. They set up mine when I did the axle swap a few years ago. For a bench job it was $150.
Never blame the beer. It's only there to lend a hand.
