Lightbulb Roll on liner -- Inside the cab of my truck...

ok so my back glass apparently has a leak, and has all but ruined my carpet. its got a weird smell, and may have got into my tools and what not too. so im going to be pulling the carpet, and instead of just trying to clean the carpet, i was thinking to go ahead and just line the inside of the truck. i get it all muddy from wheeling anyways, it would make it easier to clean, and in the event of something like this happening again, it would prevent the foul smell. (and yes I will be getting the leak fixed)

So im looking at two different roll on kits from advance. One is the Dupli-color for $79(on sale from something over $100) or the Herculier for $89(this is regular price). Im leaning towards the Dupli-Color but dont have experience with either. I saw another guy on here using herculiner for the inside of the jeep cherokee, but I thought Id just get yalls opinion on the two brands really.

And if you happen to have an opinion about the whole thing, feel free to chime in

Dupli Color is garbage, I used it on the interior of my Scout and it didnt last at all. You can scrape it off with you finger nail. I have had good luck with herculiner. I just tried rustoleum on my new scout it appears to be better than the dupli color but only time will tell.

checkout my thread with my runner...I used the Dup and it came out alright. Some folks done like it, said it does not hold up as well as Hercu but I have not had mine on that long to know. So far so good.

How long ago did you use the Dup??? It may not be any good...I just did mine in the late summer early fall, then I had some issues with the runner and it sat all winter until this past weekend.

Go with Herc. Prep, prep, prep. Then prep some more. Then clean. And clean. And clean. I'd mask the whole thing off and spray it. It's a much nicer texture than the roller.

Well with the Dup my prep was sweep out the dirt and roll on...Didn't do anything special. The smell was not too bad, actually it was better than what it was like before which was the reason for removing the carpet.

I used the dup about 4 years ago, the entire inside of the scout was hosed out, scrubbed cleaned than wiped down with alcohol it was clean. I used the roller they give you. It just didnt hold up at all. I personally think paint would of done a better job. The herculiner just works much better.

Why not just get a rubber "carpet" that is already cut to fit? You can get the OEM style one from various sources such as LMC truck.

because if i get some type of leak again, i dont want anything to be there to have water get under and on. plus i like being able to just spray out the truck. as opposed to have to remove the "rubber carpet" and clean that.

I used herculiner in the buggy in 2001 when it was a ZJ, and it's still holding up very well. You need to prep it well though.

the foam under the carpet keeps most of the exhaust noise down, even with a stock exhaust you might be suprised at how loud it is. but then again, its not a f*cking prius.

Herculine it man those rubber mats have a tendency to hold water under them.

Also, if you're concerned about noise, you can look for "cascade spray on sound deadner" - I put down 1/4" of that under my herculiner. It was as quite as having the carpet in.

We were recomended to use Hurc by both previous users of Hurc & of Dura

We just finished and I am happy.
We only had a little rust (2 holes about 1/4" dia after sanding, I was happy for a 94 XJ)

We were told the prep is most important. I probably did overkill.

    - sanded, filled holes
    - metal ready applied
    - washed soap & water
    - POR-15 applied Black
    - Hurculiner 3 coats

I covered the wires exposed but under rear seat with blue plastic flex covering. For the wires that ran from console to rear seat along hump I enclosed them in electical conduit. Heated it to conform to the hump and screwed it in. Cover it with Hurc as well.

BElow are pics, they do not do it justice. Now Steven says, "REAL OFF-ROAD VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE CARPET" LOL

Fathernsons.com Started with a 94 xj at a shown & shine a few years back. Knowing we had a difficult time against the trailered entries, we added a sign that read, "we use this jeep to promote our father n son time together".
From that vendors & without solicitation wanted to sponsor our site. Its starting to come together more and more.
Thanks to all. Meanwhile we will see you on the trails.

only reason i brought u noise is idk about your CB but mine almost gets lost in the drone and i still have carpet in, if you do nothing about the noise is duggest looking at an external speaker

Right on. I had the OEM rubber floor in my 94 F150 and never had a problem and could spray it out with it in the truck. But I understand wanting to go with bedliner. I've used Duplicolor, wont' use it again. Rustoleum is halfway decent. Sounds like Herc is your winner. If noise is an issue, try some Thermo Cool adhesive mats, I have them on my firewall and they help deaden some sound and repel some heat.
