Upgrading GVWR weight rating of a trailer?

I'm re-re-building my trailer again and am making a it a dump trailer now, and putting 2500lb axle under it instead of the 1000lb axle.

And then I started thinking that would screw with the GVWR how could I change that without jumping through burning hoops at penndot?

TJ now with the power of a 5.2L vs 2.5L get same gas mileage....crap.

good luck with that Gabe. I do know though that you have to have it re-inspected by a certified trailer inspector (or whatever you call them).

I actually just did a bunch of research on this, it was an offshoot of research I was doing for my boss for his Harbor Freight trailer.

Basically, it's considered a home-built trailer. As Dragon Slayer said, you will have to have it inspected by a certified trailer inspection station (Push N Pull in Bethel is one) and it will have to be entirely re-registered. Figure this all to be right around $300.

I'm pretty sure PA's law now requires brakes on axles at 2000 or 2500lb and on every axle. I just did a bit of Googling and from what I'm finding it says 3000lb, but I could swear that I read somewhere recently that it's now 2000 or 2500lb that requires brakes.
