por 15
...... but I never stuck my head that close to his pipe to check it out.
My brother used POR-15 on his XJ, bumpers and unibody. He prepped everything according to instructions and carefully applied the POR-15. It adhered to the metal for about 6-8 months (at the longest) and began to peel/flake off of the treated surfaces. I have heard of similar results from fellow HRJA members. The stuff is awfully expensive to have such poor durability.
Chassis Saver.

If your POR15 failed, it's more than likly due to UV rays, as it's not UV stable. If you use POR 15 it needs top coated. Paint over it with rustoleum if nothing else.

It was top coated. It peeled from the bumpers as well as the unibody. I was planning on using POR-15 on my new TDK frame for my CJ-5, but have elected to go with epoxy paint instead after seeing it fall off of my brother's XJ. I've seen it used on several vehicles now with the same poor results.
I use chassis saver on the equipment at work and I am impressed. Its thinner than POR 15 but seems to flex better and hold up better to impacts.

I think Kern auto parts near butler used to have chassis saver, have to call to see if they still do.

get a grinder and put a wire wheel on it to take off the surface rust. use rustoleum or something easy to purchase, so it's easy to buy the next time you need to repaint or touch-up. usually flat colors hide imperfections.
