    Custom xj roof rack

    I recently acquired some steel from work to build roof rack for my cherokee. (thank you yamaha for using steel crates) Will post pictures when i start the build tomorrow. Any advice?

    More attachment points at the rain gutters the better! Other than that, let your imagination run wild.

    Build a full length basket up there and run tube alongside the gutters to keep trees from denting the body when you tip into one.

    thats a pretty decent rack, id like to try makin one of the low profile ones myself. but i dont have any access to a bender. one similar to the jcr offroad rack.

    I went with a similar design but i'm attaching it to the factory rails. and dam...that was kinda the purpose of the thing...oh well it'll carry the tool box and coolers and other miscelanious items i decide will fit. i'll post the pictures when its all finished instead of separately due to laziness. next idea...Winch carrier build..similar to the xj "backbone" from detours

    not using a bender...good ol sawzall and mig'll do the trick for me

    I run the backbone system and it's a great setup. I was able to winch the jeep straight up off the ground with it. Brace it along the framerails as far back as you can and it'll be strong.

    sadly...my plan to throw some pics on here failed epically because my mother decided to let my 1 year old nephew play with my $500 camera...its broke...but i'll put cell pics up when i get the chance to take a few
