    General info on biking

Not too sure if the bike I have is even any good for trail rides. I have a trek, have to look at the model and what not when I get home. How essential is a helmet? Or what other gear do you recomend if I start going riding a lot?

Helmet gloves water and food all essential.. You burn many calories during a ride even an easy one. You don't want to bonk!

Helmet! And after that first ride I did last week, gloves too. I'm recovering from Lasik and traveling next week, but in a few weeks lets go riding. I don't know the details on the bike I have either, some full suspension HEAVY diamond back thing.

got a receiver hitch? Just get one of those cooler basket things if you do, that's what I use. Cheaper that a bike rack, with a pair of ratchet straps can easily hold 2 bikes, and can be multi-used.

what is the model of the trek. it should say either a word or some numbers. there should be another sticker on the bottom of the frame that says the size too
