    Now The 5.9L Swap

I'm finally getting my ducks in a row for the engine swap.

Found an engine from a 2001 with 80k for $500.

I think I can use 46re from behind a 5.9 I just need to swap the flex plate and possible the torque to deal with the 5.9s external balancing.

I got trans cooler and a line on some $155 headers from summit.

Still looking for a 8.8 thats not just a housing for rebuild.

But now I need to think about radiators I got a 10% off coupon for ebay and I saw this and this. Cant decide which one or which size. Any opinions? I'm going to run the radiator with my MkVIII fan.

SWEET find for an 01 for only 500.... You stole that thing..

What vehicle will this go into?? There used to be only 2 ppl in the world that made headers for the mag motors in ZJs and they stopped selling them. even with those you had to notch a healthy section from the pass side frame rail. Summit truck block huggers were the next best thing, and they were far from headers, BUT better than stock mani's.

my suggestion: not to be an azz, but good luck on the Jeep 46RE... one year only trans and less than 11K ever made.... go with a 46RH and deal with the check engine light... plus, they made those for a 3 years in the Jeeps with the 5.2, and a few years in the Rams, Vans, etc.
even better, get the intake manifold from an OBD1 Jeep and run OBD1 and you wont have any CEL. less wires, more work, but better in the long run..

edit: the bid has ended for the one... that top one looks pretty decent... idk what rads run, but that seems reasonable.

I have a welded 8.8 that came out of a yj. 4.10 gears. I know the jeep was wheeled pretty hard (look up woodsbuggies on youtube, it was in the tan yj), but i don't know how long the axle was in it. Would need rebuilt and all bracketry for your jeep. Make an offer if you're interested.

Well lets see the $500 engine fell threw I went to go pick it up and it seems somebody took the intake and injectors from it. So not worth it. But I did score a consolation prize a $50 ford 8.8 with 3:73s and limited slip and near new calipers and rotors.

I just ordered the TJ braket kit, anybody that has done a 8.8 into a TJ before want to help? Reading the article on stuoffroad can only do so much.

    No not bears, just beers.

Quick question to you all, would a 4.0L from a 97 grand cherokee work with the computer on a 2000 TJ?
I found a guy which has a 4.0L and transmission, with 42,000 on it with wiring harness and computer for $800
I need to get back to him by monday so think it will work?

Seth were you coming off of the chippewa exit and see a red 4dr JK with a brown trailer go past?

Got some work done in the last few days, got the 2.5 pulled gravel driveways and engine lifts don't mix I'm going to buy some 4x8 of plywood when I go to install the 5.2.

Sold the 2.5 a few days ago for $390 not bad now I got a blown 30rh and a d35 to get rid of.

Got some control arms from Dave so I got the 8.8 in now I just need to do the brake lines.

Found out I need to cut done the input shaft on my np231 so I'm going to go turn that down on the lathe at rmu and I need to dig up a new engine harness found a cut it missing the plugs and wires going to the trans. Need to find a 01 ram1500 now to get one out of can only find ram vans in the yards .

NEW for the 2000 model year jeep wrangler the fuel inefficient 2.5l!

Got some more work done this morning, got the engine on the stand. And who the hell at chrystler thought using 3/8 bolts to mount the transmission and engine together was a good idea? The transfer has 7/16 threads on it so I got 7/16 bolts no, it 3/8-16 what the hell!?

But anyway I get the fan off and pull the intank bad pleneum as expected but the oil was doing a very good impression of roofing tar so so got some diesel in there to help dissolve the crap. Now to pull the valve covers. And heads and see I if there are any surprises there, hope not.

I did get my new moabs mounted, so I have some canyons with worn 31's on them and a new 30" wrangler gsa for sale

I tore the head of today and two of the cylinders had water in them, not much but enough rust that some steel wool and a hone might not be enough, and the cam shaft looks pretty worn.

So I'll be calling adlemans tomorrow, this supposidly was a running engine, but the baked on oil and small crap I'm finding with it I guessing that they consider running as "crank not froze"

Got some pictures the can is worn and pitted is some spots, I took some more steel wool to the cylinders I'll get a hone tomorrow.
Adlemans told me I had waited to long to tear down the block since you should totally tear down all engines that they consider running, and they only could only take a little of the price of the next engine.

Think I've found another engine a guy in Scottsd down near Mt. Pleasant has a 2000 ram van with a bad frame and 88k on it for $900. Its got rot at the steering box so it might need to be towed of I might bring done my gas welded and burn on some plate and drive it back.

Though if I get it I might get enough scrap from it for it to pay for itself, or I migjt got to the yard and get the parts to get the old engine "running" and run it around me property as a battering ram ram van.

Looking for a few good men to help me pull the engine out of the ram van and get it into the jeep. I'll handle the wiring later just need to get the engine/transfer inplace before it starts snowing.

I'm thinking this Saturday if its not too crappy, free pizza and beer.
