If I wasn't doing a 350 swap tomorrow on my '97 GMC and I lived closer I would show up and help.
I'm not completely worthless, I can always serve as a bad example.

Well got the engine out of the van on sunday, my (mothers cousin?) came by for a status report and I got him to help me get it out.

Found a lot more frame damage on the van so I'm going to scrap it. Sell the ladder rack, doors, signals, axle, etc Its got a not really sure what axle in it, I'm guessing a dana 50-60? if anybody need a axle.

Now to get some more plywood to put down over the gravel and get the engine hoist out and weld the motor mounts in and time to dig up a front drive shaft from a cherokee to cut down for the rear.

Is it a 2500 van? If it is its either a Chrysler 9.25 (rubber fill plug with oil weeping around it) or a Dana 60, not sure what they put in the 2500 van's but its one of those two choices for sure.

According to randys ring and pinion (not sure how accurate) it was either a d-60, corp. 9.25 or 8.25.

8.25 was half ton van with V6 and 5 lug only.

Gabe that looks like the chrysler 9.25 to me. Semi Float, nearly as strong as a 60, kind of a bastard for wheelers but plenty strong for a DD pickup etc. Demand is low and so are prices...

Going to try to get the engine in this weekend again if anybody is free no rain/snow this time. Might grap some brauts and dogs for the grill along with the beer. Found a nice diagram of the wiring so I'm working on that the next few days.

You wouldn't happen to know the ratio of that rear axle would you?

I can look at the door tag tomorrow. I want to say 3.55 or something like that. Searched it could be 3.21, 3.55 or 3.92.

Ah shit! I forgot you could use one Mark! Hell if you don't want much for it and Mark doesn't want it for the ratio my old man might take it for one of his half ton's as a spare...

My cousin Bobby came over few minute ago and we did it!

    I now have a 5.2l V8 in my jeep!

Still have to get a cheroke front drive shaft to cut for the sye, and I have to finish the wiring harness and misc lines and radiator.

Now for some pictures! The advance adapters engine mounts work good, now I just need to fab a mount for the transmission and the stock skid plate or fab up a new skid. And now the wiring and exhaust and new brake lines we smashed a couple getting it in. I might need to add in a small body lift I think the hood is hitting the air box or the AC pump but I'll wait till I get the grill and radiator incase its just the hood closing to far without the grill and the fenders a bit floppy.
If anybody has a set of lets say 1" body lifts and a cherokee front drive shaft laying around let me know.

    Where did the engine go!?!?!?!

    Hey! There it is!

Still fighting with the jeep, got most of the big stuff done, some little stuff left, put the rest of the bolts into the transmission mount, put a u-joint in the rear drive shaft, put the muffler back on, etc. And one big thing left, get the wiring harness done! I've been trying to get the time to do this harness for weeks.

But anyway some pictures. Got a new cooling fan mounted today since the tarsus fan wasn't fitting.

Reason it wasn't fitting is I got a bit to big of a radiator.

    Not much space.

Then I shoe horned in the transmission cooler from the ram van.

I wish I could help, just bad timing - fixing up both houses to sell ASAP and taking the buggy apart, while building an apartment in the basement of the future in-laws is just killing any time I have

Well got a little bit more done still fighting the wiring. but I finlly did get my winch mounted it only took it sitting in my basement for two years. But now my front end is sagging the 2.5" RC springs were riding nice and level even with the 5.2, but i guess the wich was the straw the broke the camels back. Nowi have to decide on adding a 1.5" spacer or finding some 4" lift springs for the front.

I was just reading your thread, nice!

I wouldn't use 4" lift springs, they could bind. You need to get springs with a higher spring rate, not just more coils. You could probably use ZJ v8 lift springs. Or call a spring MFR and tell them what you are doing.
One thing they will need to know is how much the front of your jeep weighs. Go to a weigh station at a scrap yard or some similar scale and weigh only your front axle.
