    Got tired of ducking

Got tired of ducking every time I bumped a tree. So I Put some expanded metal on top of the cage.

I also added a set of hood pins (which should gain me an extra 5hp) . I broke a hood latch when I flopped it at out last event. hood pins are much cheaper and should hold up better I think.

It kind of has a top..... but it definitely has a frame. Ill stick to Wranglers thank you.
The expanded metal isn't going to stop any thing big, but should stop small sticks, branches, or small furry woodland creatures from falling on me.

What was your reasoning for using that instead of solid sheet metal?

Figured it would be a little cooler(tempeture wise) a solid sheet would probably get pretty hot.

I'm not sure I follow that logic? Are you concerned that the solid metal would block airflow, thus making the "cabin" hotter? Or that the heat generated from inside the cabin (body heat, transmission tunnel, etc.) would reflect back when it hits a solid roof?

I would think the opposite would be true -- the solid sheet metal would block the sunlight better and also afford you shade. You'll still get plenty of airflow without a windshield, doors, or anything behind you.

I was thinking more that the solid sheet itself would get hot and radiate heat down on me. I can still put my safari top over it if I want shade.

I'd rather put my hand on expanded metal that's been sitting in the sun all day, rather than a sheet of metal.

Why are you putting your hand on your roof? Oh yeah expanded metal would cut you alot quicker than sheet metal or aluminum with a rolled edge attached with quick tabs from ballistic fabrication. Imagine getting a finger stuck in expanded metal(not cool).Just my opinion.
