    Good places to buy from

I've been looking for a S&W 686 Plus, 6" barrel. Anybody have any good places that would carry this or would order one. I looked at Gander and they have it, and I'm heading to Anthony's arms soon. But where else are good places with good prices that are reputable.

Ive had ... interesting experiences at Anthony's. Their guys can be pretty cool, but their setup and store is a bit off. Ive gotten a few guns from Ace on 19, and they have been fantastic. I always deal with Chris Smith, aside from him being a friend who happened to start working there, he knows his stuff.

Another good place is Browns Armory in Rochester.

I would stay away from Anthony Arms. Johnsons Gun Depot in Norvelt or Ace in Washington get most of my business unless I order online.

I like A&S in Youngwood, they have an indoor range that you can try your gun out before you buy for a small fee, which they take off the price when you buy it.

Way to expensive. Call a friend of mine. He's in Mt. Pleasant and will beat any price.

Most any shop is going to be higher than teh MSRP or online prices, but thats the way buying things works. Sometimes getting from a shop works out better, that way if some part goes south on your new gun, they sit there and deal with shipping it and getting it working, not you.

I've never paid MSRP or higher for a new gun it's always been less than the MSRP.

I was thinking new stuff coming out and average price, which seems to be MSRP. Sits 1/2 way between the fear peddlers at the gun shows (get them while you still can!) and decent shops.

With the back orders on a lot of manufactures, the prices have been ticking up.

Thanks for all the input. I'll check out all the places and go from there. Expect a picture of it when I buy.

Are they overpriced? Yeah. The curse of brick & mortar stores. CAN you find what you need, and occasionally find a bargain? Yep - I've done it there.

I've read many a thread at PAFOA about 'lousy customer service,' and I don't like lousy customer service either, but I've always been treated well there! If it's NEAR you, give 'em a try - what can it hurt?

Oh - and try Braverman's on Penn Ave., too.
