    Trout Opening day results!

    So who all went today?

I got my limit within 2 hours.

    Biggest one was 12 inches.

Guy next to me landed a 20-23 inch trout!

Had a nice time up on the Neshannock creek near Volant. Camped out 2 days on my buddy's private property creekside. Creek was a little low, but clear and full of fish. They were biting too. I limited out in about an hour, including a nice 18" rainbow. Hauled in 15 total opening day, then another 10 yesterday morning (catch and released all of them). Weather was about as good as you could get for good fishing.

Had a nice grilled trout dinner last night.

Had a great weekend up near Warren. Quit at 11 am with 20 fish. I'm usually happy if I get my 5. Not one under 10". It was ridiculous.

Went to Erie on Saturday and on Sunday I went to some ponds/streams around Seven Springs. Everywhere I went people were catching. Me - I didn't catch a thing!

I was fishing on Chapman Lake, small electric only lake outside Clarendon/Warren. I was talking to the fish and boat commission lady and she said most people didn't do very well. Said she only saw 6 fish come in before our group. I just happened to be in a good hole. We had two boats and got about 60 fish with 4 guys from 9-noon. Her theory was only the holdover fish were biting because what she saw were all large fish, many with the jaws hooking.

I usually fish the stream coming out of it in the afternoon but I'd had such a good morning, I just didn't feel like it. Have not been skunked in the lake or stream in years, so it's always done me well.

If you're taking a boat, let me know and I'll tell you where on the lake.

Thanks man - I'll check it out. I might take my yak if I take anything, but most likely would be on foot this time around. Appreciate the info! Now I just need to figure what chores I can put off so I can go fishing.....
