    1960 M51 6x6

Helped my old man drag this home Saturday. Josh found it a few weeks ago while we were parts hunting for our trucks. It has a 602 cubic inch continental gas motor. Runs pretty good considering the gas smelled like paint thinner. It needs a master cylinder and mostly cosmetic work. Was a real blast loading it onto the old man's trailer with no brakes.

He plans on making it original again. I found a 1967 government rebuild tag on the dash. Guessing Uncle Sam sent it to Vietnam. Here's what they looked like in uniform

I showed him how to use "the internet thing" yesterday so he could parts hunt. Another good quote was "I wish I had my backhoe home so I could straighten out some of these body panels".

    Hahaha!

Saturday I helped him load those two bridge truck steer tires in his pick up, then I started saying to Bob how I wanted that spare M35 radiator in the attic, and your old man starts saying how much it's probably worth because it has heavy this and good that. I was like, "hey, didn't I just help you load those big tires haha" and he says, "ya, I guess I'll shut up now" haha. He cracks me up.

Gave the old man a hand last weekend. Painted the cab protector and put it on with a forklift. Primered the hard-top and bolted it on. Straightened out the bumper with my truck and a chain. Tested out the bed (dumps to almost vertical).

Then Josh stopped by to get his waste oil fix

I found this today while cruising around after work. Mmmm inspiration! Not for sale unfortunately, but I did make a new friend and scored a free trailer plug and pigtail for the M51.

The truck also has the 10 ton mirrors that stick way out. The guy said he likes them a lot.

The tail lights were tucked up under the back in the frme rails like we thought.

The old man made some progress while I went on a 10 day trip to Alberta for work.

Correct size tires and wheels painted and mounted. New fenders and tanks painted (forgot to get pics of those). Frame and suspension blasted and painted. New tailgate mounted.

Is he going to drive it in any parades Monday?

I think he should let you drive it around in the play area at the National Pike show and I call shotgun.

He has weeks tied up in blasting and painting, but won't take 10 mins to bleed the brakes. So he just coasts around and points it towards trees "in case it gets away". I don't get him sometimes haha. Guessing it will be finished in about a month. Think he said he's on his 3rd gallon of paint so far.

PPG. They had the older style darker green (what he's using) and the newer style lighter green (my truck) blends in the computer.

How much does that stuff cost? My Krylon spray cans at $4.50 or so each might not be the cheapest way to go. It takes about 15 cans or so to do a truck.

Same question here. My paint Job starts tomorrow, but I haven't bought any paint yet. Hoping to have it done by the weekend.

Not sure to tell you the truth. It can't be that expensive. My old man is tighter than two coats of paint.

I'd call anyone that sells ppg, they can give you a price over the phone.

Bled the brakes and took it for a ride in a parking lot. It really needs a tune up after sitting since 1992. 95% of it is green now. New fuel tanks installed, new fuel line, some new wiring.

wow, he is doing fantastic work to that truck

what's with the dual tail lights? I take it he didn't like how small the old ones are.

I hope thats all it was that would be awesome.

This weekend I'm putting together my air shift case. that mess has been sitting in the garage WAY too long.

what was his technique for lowering that down out of the truck and dragging it out from under? also getting it back up in?
