    6.0 Vortec LQ9 swap into a YJ

Getting the pieces together to swap a 6 liter into my YJ. Where I am getting hung up right now is trying to find a diagram/instructions on how to cut the harness. There are a ton of places that will cut it for $250+ if you if you send it to them, but I'd like to save myself a little $$ by doing it myself. Anyone know of a good site that may have the info I need? I found pin out diagrams, but still doesn't tell me what I can cut and where I need to splice into the jeep wiring.

Waynehartwig on Pirate will do it for around $150 and it turns out nicely. He also will tune your PCM to get rid of the rear O2 sensors, anti-theft, torque management, etc.

Highlander, have not 100% made up my mind yet, but I am leaning towards the AX-15 right now. I like the 5 speed.

2002 and DMG, thanks for the info, I will look into both of those.

    LQ9 will destroy an AX15.

Sorry, that was a mistake, LQ4, not 9. I have heard both sides of the debate on the strength of the AX-15, some guys have them behind built v8's with 10k+ miles with no problems, and some blow them out behind stock 4.0's. That is my only hold up on deciding which trans still.

I'd opt for the NV4500 if you want a 5 speed.

    Put a TH400 behind it.

As for harness, go with a new one and a tune from someone who actually understands the motors, not just knows how to turn off the VSS and tq management system.

A new harness is $1200+ and I have a place to do the computer already. They specialize in LS swaps of all kinds.

Oh and TJ, I already blew the D35 with my stock motor. Lol. 8.8 is going in at the same time as the engine.

A TH400 is a power hungry pig, with no OD and a crappy first gear. A 4L60E is much better suited to a good all around vehicle, if you like auto transmissions that is.

Dear God no! My entire harness and new tuned ECU was $550. Call Todd at F&S Racing to order one. 301-991-1467 They're all brandy spanking new. A lot depends on whether you will be using DBW/DBC, O2 sensors, car or truck injectors, or an electrically controlled trans. If you EVER think you'll want to switch to a car intake, now's the time to do it.

And you need to throw a ton of parts at that transmission to make it live with power. Two full years of beating the poo out of mine with 500+hp, and it's going strong.

4l80, if auto. I love the turbo 400 but I think the 4L80 is a better call.

You'll find that the biggest issue with them is the electronics and the lack of true manual valve bodies.

Truss it and weld the tubes. The axles and gears will hold the housing just sucks.

I have a complete donor vehicle. It's been at the garage I work at for 189 days now so as soon as the title comes in it's mine. It's a 2500 Suburban.
