Yeah, I dunno ran the turnpike between Latrobe to New jersy and back. The scout, truck loaded with a long weekend worth of camping gear and never once did I drop below the speed limit. If you keep it north of 2300 rpm it ran great, never bogged on the hills. My truck is almost stock too, everyone who rides in it is pretty surprised.

The guy there named Ed is a nice guy to deal with I have to say. I pointed out a small leak on one of the transmission lines and he had his mechanic change it right away. Also took care of a few other small things.
Girlfriends dad just got a brand new one. I was looking it over and they are pretty damn nice trucks, you should be happy

Man. Just seems expensive for what is essentially a 5.3 1/2 ton with 80k miles.
But maybe it's just me.
Looks like a nice dd.

I think the price is pretty decent, Avalanches have a niche, and GM trucks seems to always hold their value.

Well I guess to each his own....I would take a 5.3 over a 5.7 hemi anyday. I buy vehicles for long term, imho a SBC will out last the hemi. That said I must of got really lucky on my truck or it was built on like a tuesday afternoon, that everyone was really ready to get it done because it runs good.
My Cousin had a 2003 quad cab ram, and my truck would eat it alive in a stop light drag. He had over sized tires but nonetheless.

I guess. I passed a guy with a half ton avalanche pulling a single axle trailer going up the big hill out of butler.
I was pulling 7k lbs and he had his revved up and was struggling with prolly half my load.
The hemi in my 03 isn't anything crazy but that 5.3 is way less than impressive.
I agree that it'll prolly outlast a hemi. But I'd pay the extra $ for a 6.0.

I hear a lot of guys complain about the 5.3 and the way it revs, I will say this you gotta drive it a certain way. When I pull my trailer I keep it atleast 2,500 rpm. At that RPM it wont down shift and will rev more for steep hills. A lot of guys let it run at 2,000 when a hill approaches it down shifts so they are singing a tune in second gear, while I am pulling hills at 70 mph, while my transmission isn't overheating. It takes a few mpg off but the overall trip is much better, plus less wear and tear on the truck. I had post on pirate about pulling with a 5.3 lots of good advice, the trucks need to keep RPM up, if you don't they are bad.

Also makes me miss my tundra.
5.7 I force>hemi>5.3
The hemi likes revs too. That's why guys put 4.56s in them with stock tires.

Quick google search, I know very little about these times, but this is what I found.
2007 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4x4 Quad Cab 0-60 mph 7.8 Quarter mile 16.0
2000 Chevrolet Silverado LS 1500 0-60 mph 7.7 Quarter mile 15.8
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab Short-bed 0-60 mph 10.2 Quarter Mile 17.6
So are the quad cabs just really really heavy ?
