need suggestions on a pistol mounted light

I'm going to need one for that class. I don't want to spend a lot of $ because honestly, i don't see myself using it much after the class.

can anyone recommend one they have experience with? i have seen the ones on google. Just looking for personal experience.

    Thanks!

I'll be using a sub $20 NEBO light and a universal flashlight rail mount.

I have even tested the free harbor freight LED flashlights on a 12 ga. They never broke.

Here's the other thing.. do you have a holster that will work with the light as well? And is it (holstering) required for the class? You might want to look into the Crimson trace lightgaurd. Surprisingly bright. http://www.crimsontrace.com/products/type/lightguard

I say train as you would fight, and run with a good flashlight that you would normally keep with you. I run a Firstlight Tomahawk NV (night vision portion only because I had it modified from factory with strobe) which ergonomically works great for shooting. http://www.first-light-usa.com/solut...y#.UUcyGlf_rJo

I have 2 and the one came to me second hand after a few tours and abuse in Iraq... cant even tell.

nope. No holster that i have will work with a light. BUT, i just bought a bunch of old faithful holsters. And i'm planning on doing some kydex molds with the light on it. That way i have the option.

He does good work. I have my EDC holster and a few mag pouches done up by AD, and like them a lot.

I got a TLR1s on sale a couple of years ago, for like, $84 delivered. I'd definitely invest in a GOOD one - bumps in the night are NOT the time to be smacking it because of a loose connection, or cussing it, because of battery/bulb issues. Shop around, and you should find some good ones for >$85

This is good advice. We have some TLR-1s, they are decent lights for what they cost. Weapon lights can be useful in some situations, in others (as I found out) they can be a bullet-magnet.

+1 for Atomic Dog holsters. I just received one for a non-rail SIG P-220. I like it a lot, it's every bit the holster that my Raven Concealment Phantom is, but less expensive with a shorter wait time. I believe Atomic Dog is in West Deer Twp., and they do offer local pick up if you want.

FYI, I believe there are 2 grades of the TLR1. AA plastic one and a metal one.

I have an inexpensive FNH rail mounted light from Sportsmans Guide I believe. Good for nightstand work. Bright and easy to turn on. Slides on to the Picatinny mount. To solve the holster issue, i got a Fobus paddle holster for a Glock (19 I think?) that has an open bottom and retention snap. Fits my S&W Sigma just fine, also tried my SR9C in the holster and it also works fine. So i can carry the gun with the rail mounted light in a proper holster, even though it rarely leaves the house.
