    Tire Repair

I got a slice in a sidewall about an inch long this past weekend. Are there any shops around that you guys have had experience with and would recommend?

Also what would be the best way to do the repair? It is on a radial tire and the slice is going north to south on the sidewall. I really hate to buy a new tire so I would like to just get it repaired. The truck doesnt see the road anymore so the tire wont be ran on the road.

Any shop should be able to send it out to get vulcanized. I had it done a few years ago for a larger gash in a sidewall and it was about $60 I think. They also told me the tire was no longer safe for road use but that didn't stop me from using them. I put it on the back at least. Probably won't pass inspection but I don't know what the rules actually state.

I thought that was your excuse to get some bigger tires?

Matt had his 40's mounted and balanced at Skander Tire. They seemed like a good place that knew what they were doing with large/unusual size tires, maybe give them a try? It would be a bit of a haul for you though...

Check Valley tire in Bridgeville. They do heavy equipment tires and can handle it.

Hmmmm! Nearby! That's good to know!

Would an innertube be viable? You almost NEVER hear of them anymore, but for the cost mondo truck tires? I'D check it out!

Have it vulcanized. I'm running several of them on the race car. Not an issue, and you won't need a tube. The only issue is if your slice is too close to the bead.
    Something catchy goes here.
