    another head gasket?

    It never ends......

I just had the head and gasket replaced on the 01 xj and now my TJ has oil in the coolant and runs low oil pressure when you stop. I just switched to synthetic a few months ago and I'm thinking it cleaned out all the gunk and now the gasket is swiss cheese. Sound like the head gasket?

Impossible, synthetic oil is the greatest substance on earth and couldnt cause any problems on your jeep EVER. My pet Rabbit died, I soaked in Mobil 1 and it came back to life !!!!! No lie.

Sounds like a head a gasket to me.... That does blow.

It sounds like the head gasket but there is no way that synthetic oil caused it. Most automotive oil has the same basic detergent/additive packages, synthetic or not. And if gunk was holding your head gasket together it would be more likely washed out by a coolant flush.

What you are describing sounds more like a crack in an oil gallery in the block or head but a head gasket is possible. Has it been overheated?

Yeah it's a 4 cyl. I'm taking it to Whitey's in BF and they will put it on the machine and run some tests on Wednesday to see what's up.

Well the shop shot me an email today:

"Don put a mechanical oil pressure gauge in the Jeep. The lowest it reads is 10lbs. That's a little low, which isn't exceptionally abnormal. He recommends maybe changing the oil to a heavier oil.

    No problem with head gasket.

Coolant is dirty, recommends changing the anti freeze."

I used mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 high mileage oil during my last oil change and got the low oil pressure shortly after. I guess I'll just try some heavier oil. A coolant flush is in order as well.

This is what I just got from walmart along with a purolator filter. Gonna pour this in the xj but I got synth 10w-30 for the TJ. The XJ has worse oil pressure issues than the TJ so i'll see how it works in there. Both have 5w-30 in there now and prob why the oil pressure is low.
