    Plowtruck Tire

I am looking for new tires for the plow truck at work. Currently running Michellin LTX AT2, and they blow worse tire in the snow, ever.
I feel like I have it narrowed down to Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac, General Grabber AT 2, Nitto Grappler. Any input on these tires, any tires I may have overlooked. Has to be availbale in a 10 ply and for an 18" wheel. So either 275/70/18 or 265/70/18. In that area. Truck is a 2011 Silverado 3500 HD.

We run the wrangler dura trac on Dad's Cummins Dually in the rear. They are doing great on it.

I agree, those Michelins are horrible. I plow snow for a living and out of the tires you mentioned I like Duratracs and the (assuming you meant) Terra Grapplers. The one complaint I have on the Nittos is the tread isnt that deep even when brand new, other than that I like them. 18" wheel sucks as I would have suggested the BFG Commercial T/A Traction but I'm pretty sure they dont offer the size you need.

We ran the bfg's commercial on tow trucks. Great drive tire. But might not have a lot of available on sizes.

I have goodyear silent armors on my work truck. they ride great and go fantastic in the snow. Really was impressed with them all last winter. I have 22k on them now, i'll easily get 25-30k more.

I always ran the Cooper M&S on my plow trucks and never had an issue with traction or weight.... I always got 38-40K miles out of them with a V- box in the back during the winter months. They seem to be seasonal tires for Cooper and are around in the fall/winter at my local tire dealer.

Did the Michelins suck for plowing or for snow in general?

The suck, period. Wet grass, better put the truck in 4 wheel drive, 1/2" of snow, better be in 4 wheel drive. One ton truck with a locker and its awful in the snow, or any offroad use.

Why hasn't Dunbar chimed in on how BFGs suck and you need Yokohoma or something like that?

haha idc what anybody says id put bfg a/t's on a civic if they made em in that size. if you keep up with pressure, rotations, alignments and front end theyll wear damn well.

you looking for just a straight up snow tire or an all season?

I just put a set on my 11' Cummins and haven't noticed any issues with them yet. I've been in wet grass both with and without my gooseneck hooked up and I never spun a tire. Haven't had them in the snow yet, but they have to be better than the OE BFG Rugged Trails. Though, it's a 7000lb truck with an ass load of torque, so I have no problem putting it in 4WD when the weather gets shitty.

Why not plow with your Scout? I thought Scouts were the end all to anything offroad....?

I do plow with a Scout lol. I run a knock off BFG AT on it. These tires are for the work truck.

Scouts are the ultimate plow rig !

    Color me jealous....

Please touch base with me before you hack it up if it ever gives up the ghost, lots of good parts there. Also is that a true Cab top, or is a custom job ?
