Advice on cleaning a fouled rifle barrel

So I messed up.... shot some corrosive rounds through a gun that I did not know were corrosive. Left it sit without proper barrel brushing/cleaning, now I have a big problem. I ordered a JB Compound and Kroil kit with some VFG pellets to start. Anyone have any other suggestions on how to get this barrel as clean/repaired as possible?

Couple things... dont worry about abrasive cleaners of any kind.

First neutralize the salts with any sort of ammonia based liquid. Tehn give it a rinse with good old water, and tehn with your favorite cleaner (I use Weaponsheild, good stuff, made right in Bethel Park).

But thats the standard that you do with any firearm. if it is really pitted, it might not be a shooter any longer. If its only slightly bad, take it out, after clening, and shoot a few round of non-corrosive through it, that may help to smooth out rough spots. Then unload, and check the bore for excessive lead buildup or any indication of damage. Then clean and oil. Just with a patch. Most people dont ever need a brush anyhow.

If you see bad pitting in it, might be time to make it a wall hanger, or re-barrel depending on the rifle. Rifles are cheaper than eyes and hands.
