South Bend Heavy 10 Metal Lathe

I have a South Bend Heavy 10 metal lathe for sale along with a ton of extras. It came out of a school and everything worked when it was pulled, its 3phase so I can't demo it working though. My dad and I picked it up in a package deal with the wood lathe he wanted, I'm looking to get rid of the Metal lathe and try to get some of our money back.

It is the same style/size lathe and cabinet as in this auction (THIS IS NOT MINE, just a photo as an example until I get photos of mine). I don't have any photos yet as I still have some very light surface rush to get rid of on some of the bare metal on the tooling. Its used, but it looks to be in great shape and the only real issue is that factory paint is starting to come off. Would be a great home lathe as is, or could be a good candidate for a restoration.

I will get some photos in the next day or 2.

Hoping to get $2000 but am willing to entertain offers. Also would be interested in trade plus cash for a log splitter.

I've had a really hard time selling a larger lathe. It's taken months to finally find a buyer. Doesn't seem like the demand is there.

Everything I have seen is the larger lathes are harder to sell, but the smaller bench top and small cabinet lathes are the ones that sell. Oh well, if it doesn't sell I'll move it to the shop and find a spot for it! Saw a NICE lathe with an 8+ft bed sell at auction for $250 cause it was so big, but the smaller 9-10in that were there sold for 1500-2500!

I would be open to cool trades as well. Log splitter, Stilh Chain saws, smaller trailer for hauling firewood, go-kart, etc.

The main part of the cabinet is 48x18 and at the very top the tray is 51x22.

Advertise it on POOFA or PA2A.org, if you think it's up to turning rifle barrels. When Kevin Johnson was still in Monroeville, he turned his own barrels on a big industrial lathe. Sadly, he took a job with REI in Washington state 3 years ago. The LAST custom AR-15 he ever made as Johnson Tactical Rifles, he made for me.
