Plates, titles, and other state nonsense

Quick question.

Saw this thread about getting an out of state VT plate: http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=655441

Im insured in PA, have yet to transfer the title (had to wait for the insurance check). Hell if I want to pay the $130 for the new PA plate (geico only covers $20 ). Ideas? Legalities? Im insured for my bike at my residence. I could transfer the plate from my wife's Honda to mine and just transfer the plate, and buy her another one some day.

I don't really understand what you're trying to accomplish but my two military trailers have VT plates and transferable registrations because I bought them without titles. Been driving around with them for 2 years now without a question asked. I have them registered and insured with my home address (yes I buy separate insurance policies for my trailers because if they break loose from the truck the damage they do isn't covered by the truck's policy). I had another trailer that I stuck a VT plate on and I sold it to another PA resident who registered it in PA without a problem. I've bought trailers in NY and they came with a transferable registration that I had no issue registering in PA as well. Hope that helps.

I had a brand new '93 Mustang GT when I was down there working in radio. Local school taxes got paid through your plate renewal, and it was a sliding scale, based on the quality and newness of your vehicle. Guess what a MS plate fee for a '93 Mustang GT was IN 1993?

Seth said that in FL they hit you up for an absurd amount for a lifetime plate, that you can transfer without fees. Teh idea that we have a "registration" to prove that we didn't sell our vehicle, really puturbs me. Call it a damn tax. It really gets annoying when they increase the taxes and then increase every fee. Bleeding us dry, to pay for the jokes that are penndot, Port Athority, and SEPTA.

Yep, just shy of $500 for a new plate/registration in Florida. But that's a one time deal for new residents or anyone who has never had a plate in FL. I got my trailer plate with registration for $50. There's still the yearly registration fee, it's a combination of vehicle value and weight is how they figure it. The minimum fee was about $40, if you had a large newer truck they were gonna stick it to ha.
