1994 Burban overheat on the coldest damn day of the year.

So this morning coldest day of the year, I start my Burb to let it warm up. It idled about 10 minutes. Jump in it, temp gauge is operating level, which is weird it never warms up that fast. I drive about a block and it is over heating. So I run home, grab the truck and head to work.
Come home, start it up. All systems go. Runs fine, not overheating. Oil looked good. Temp gauge ok, however it doesn't make heat unless I rev it up. When I take the cap of the radiator it looks like stagnant water, rev it up and it sucks a ton down. I am thinking its the water pump. I replaced it with a cheap rebuild and suspect it is done. What doesn't make sense is why it overheated this morning, but was ok again tonight.

Only other thing I found odd, was coolant on the intake, no signs of where it was leaking from.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Thats my guess bad coolant mixture. If its an advance water pump that would be my next suspect along with the thermostat.

It was mixed 50/50 and I tested it when I added it. It was an advance waterpump, Driveworks.
It might have been, that would make sense. I am just thinking waterpump because when it idles it blows cold, but when its reved it blows hot.

That usually means low coolant or partially clogged heater core

I've got two acres and every car/trailer is one less patch of grass I don't have to mow.
