92 XJ Throttle body

Hey there!
I was getting ready to put a throttle body spacer on my 92 XJ when I found out that its impossible due to the fact that the tb is a 3 bolt rather than what seems to be the typical 4 bolt. Anyone else have the 3 bolt type and run into this issue? Any and all pointers are greatly appreciated!

I assume your intake manifold is 3 bolts as well ? weird.... I thought they were all 4 bolts 2.5 s and 4.0s ??

87-90 Xj's had a 3 bolt throttle body. Rusty's makes the only spacer I know of for it. http://www.rustysoffroad.com/jeep-pe...cer-87-90.html

I ran one on my 89. Put it on after I was already running Rusty's K&N intake. Didn't do anything as far as I could tell. I later used a flap wheel drum to open the inner diameter of the throttle body in the restrictive area (look up this mod) and I also opened up the spacer to match. I really don't remember any of that stuff making a difference to the seat of the pants feel.

Honestly the only way to make any noticeable worthwhile powere on a 4.0 invloves time and expense. Sometimes beyond the point of being worthwhile. If you scatter a 4.0 or it needs a refresh, that's the time to increase displacement and power. Just toss a free flowing exhaust on and some type of free er flowing cool air intake, and drive it til it gets weak.
