I have been asked by my brother in law find a Jeep for my sister. My sister has been asking him for a Wrangler for as long as I can remember and he has decided to buy her one for a surprise. He's looking to spend around $8,000 and the main factors are that he wants a 6cyl and in a manual transmission. He has no knowledge of automobiles so that's why he came to me. I have been searching for about a month and have not found anything appealing.

I think I can find something decent for $8,000 but maybe I am too picky. It's a spare vehicle so it's going to get maybe 1,500 miles a year on it. High mileage isn't a deal breaker it's just the frame rust I don't want.

He wants to pull the trigger in a couple of weeks so just asking for all to keep an eye out to help Ralph so I can stay sane. I thought it would be easy to spend someone else's money.

I lowered my search budget because every jeep around 8K is roached out. The lower-priced ones are easy to pick through.

Waiting on frame pictures for this one. I talked to he owner it has potential. The color, half doors, and stick shift are very appealing for my sister.

If its from Confluence its been run on the back roads with a lot of salt and ash. Def check the frame , brake and fuel lines over really good in person

Have Ridgerunner put you in touch with John Bain and his brother Jerry Bain from High Country Offroad. I know they flips Wranglers quite a bit and have a few in their yards.

I'm pretty sure you search for any 1997 TJ, with a 2.5 it will be about the same. I so want to build mine but, with the JK its impossible for me to build 2 Jeeps, I'm going to sell of the parts eventually as the Jeep itself is now pretty worthless ...but, I need the Tranny for the JK.

Ryan I would rather pay 7000 for it, than 5500 for that 97 4 banger, So for 1500 more you get a rust free 4.0L that is 2 years newer. Yeah prices are up on all of them that are not rusted out. You can make a fortune right now selling TJ frames.

That yellow one would be 5k. I just don't see the blue one pulling 7. That's just me. 814 area code. I'very been wrong before but I bet that it isn't that clean.

The owner text this Jeep to me the other day.... offer him $8k and see what he says. The frame is nearly perfect.
