I've had great luck with Powerstop. Make my bias 35s and steel wheels scratch and claw in a full panic stop, not quite lock up but damn near. I believe I have a Z36 kit on front of the XJ. No other braking mods besides rear disc conversion with stock pads/rotors

At the end of the Labor Day weekend 2019 SW PA Gambler I lost a rear driveshaft u-joint, had the rear driveshaft kick out while moving at a crawl, limped it a short distance in FWD, trailered it home, replaced the u-joint, and now I have a hell of a rear drive shaft vibration at higher speeds. Driveshaft could be a little bent or the yoke ears are tweaked a little. T-case is also leaking like hell with a new output seal installed so screw it. Time to throw more money at the burb:

- JB Conversions NP241C SYE w/ 1350 non-CV yoke with u-bolts
- used K30 1350 rear shaft with slip joint
- 1350 yoke for u-bolts for the 9.5" 14SF
- going to have GBG driveline modify the driveshaft length as needed

That will yield a new output bearing in the t-case, no more slip yoke, new t-case output seal, balanced and true drive shaft, new yoke on the rear axle. That should fix the leaking and vibration.

If it doesn't, well...

Swapped the rear axle yoke and installed the SYE yesterday. It was a long day. JB Conversions makes a really nice kit with great instructions. Dropping off the drive shafts for lengthening today. Next is fixing the leaking intake gasket.

It only took Greensburg Machine & Drive 6 days to replace the slip yoke on the front shaft and extended it, plus extended the rear shaft.

I got them installed last night, finished setting the timing after replacing the intake manifold gasket, and went out for a test drive. Much improved!

Just picked up that 1976 955L a few months ago. I'm pretty happy with it as far as how easy it is to work on and how readily available parts and information are. So far I've just been spiffing up the brakes and clutch controls to get it working right and changing all the filters. Once the ground dries I have a lot of projects to tackle. If you pick up a 955L and the serial number is close to mine I have an electronic copy of the repair manual I can send you.

I don’t know what I’ll end up with or when I’ll get it. I’m in the process of buying about 10 acres of land and am trying to get everything figured out to build a house. After looking into what I’ll spend to get everything excavated, I can just buy an old machine and do it myself. Plus when everything is done I’ll have a nice toy to play with!

My plan is to tackle all my big projects and then sell my crawler before something really expensive fails. Probably buy a skid loader or larger tractor and 8' brush hog with the money.

I will probably run that Kubota into the ground. I plan on buying a larger tractor for mowing but it will always be nice to have the Kubota around and set up as a compact backhoe.

No more massive oil leak after resealing the intake. Put a bunch of miles on the burb Saturday driving to Seward to pick up a 454 for my dump truck and then over to Harmer area to be a range officer for a night shoot.

I did order more things:
- set of poly steering stabilizer bushings because the old ones have crumbled and fallen off
- set of Off Road Design front spring rear eye bushings and greaseable bolts because those bushings were shot
- Off Road Design steering box brace just because
- AC delete cover from Classic Industries because it was on sale and I was ordering one for the dump truck, might as well buy two. This is a big plastic cover for the firewall that eliminates the big condenser box, creating more room to work on the passenger side of the motor or mount
- trying to find a replacement tilt steering column because mine is loose as hell



The dump truck is getting a 454 because it currently has a 305. Myself and the previous owner both thought it was a 350. Very healthy 305 will be for sale soon. The truck's VIN originally called for the 454. The truck came from Florida, so maybe the 305 was adequate there.

Worked the crawler for a few hours yesterday, still getting used to the control arrangement. I rebuilt the clutch/brake pedals and now it's apparent I need to rebuild the shift linkage.

Wow you’ve been busy! I can’t imagine the pain of a 305 in a dump truck, especially loaded going up a hill... On the bright side the transmission probably never left 2nd gear so it should be in great shape! Crawler is looking good too!

Sweet K30 dump.
I have the tools to tighten up those columns, you can only reach two of the three screws well enough to torque on them, but that's usually plenty to make it solid again.
I did find one in my old Crew Cab that actually had a broken housing, to fix that one I found a guy on eBay who did a really nice job rebuilding them.

Got my 454 in my dump truck! Love the torque.

Also I fixed the suburban’s sloppy tilt column. There were 4 bolts, and I was able to remove, loctite, and tighten all 4. I couldn’t have done it without a step by step write up I found. Very tricky job.

The burb is ready for a Detroit Gambler adventure, but I dont think I will be making any road trips this year given the current state of things.
