Help solve unfixable issue on TJ

Can't seem to figure this out and three shops struck out. It started the day I got it back from shop #1 manifold gasket repair f-up.

The jeep would start bucking at exactly 2000 rpms, not above or below but on 2000. It does it in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear. If you are going up a slight incline with moderate pressure on the gas and the rpms hit 2000 then it will start bucking till you either slow down or upshift.

No codes related to it unless the recent evap leak (0422) has anything to do with it but I doubt it.

Any ideas welcome. I'm trying to sell this jeep but need to fix this before I do.

Test the CPS I know they are known to have one part of it fail and cause issues. also look for a broken wire from when they removed stuff.

Does it do it at wot? Or just cruise? What all did the first shop do? I am leaning towards ignition. Coil, crank sensor or distributor. Also, try disconnecting the map sensor and driving it. It will set a code but if it runs better the map is bad

Does it anytime I hit 2000 rpms regardless of WOT or crusing. I could mash the pedal when it does it and it keeps bucking. I can sometimes make it happen by revving at idle. It kinda feels like it's missing.

    As for the shops....

First shop took it apart to do the manifold gasket and broke the rear most bolt in the process. They told me they can't fix it and need a new head. I said no and drove it home and found this issue right out of the parking lot. I spoke with them and they have no idea what is wrong. I thought it was the manifold leaking that caused it cuz my bubble test showed manifold leaks all over the place.

Second shop fixed the broken bolt, replaced the gasket , and a bunch of other stuff (gas skid, pump, filler neck, hose, body mounts). I got the jeep back with a P0442 and P0455 that I am trying to diagnose and fix. I put a new Mopar gas cap on it but no luck. I gotta go over what they did with the tank and stuff to see if they forgot something.

Could you tell me where the MAP sensor is on the 2.5?

Never mind i found the sensor. I could not start it with it disconnected so I assume you mean disconnect it while it is running and i will try that after work.

So it is not the map. Do you have a spare crank sensor or distributor to try?

    No.

I did more poking around and see that my engine mounts are done. The engine rocks back and forth when I shake the jeep.

Have you checked for the usual suspects like spark plugs or intake leaks?

Turns out shop #1 mixed injector plug 3 snd 4. I swapped em and it is like a brand new jeep. I did not realize how rough the idle was until it ran like it should.

No more bucking or missing and purs nicely.

    Thanks for all the help.

    Thanks.

Not done though. The gas tank return line broke/rusted through a day after and was causing gas fumes in the cab. I replaced it with fuel hose. I was hoping that was the cause of my P0442 evap code but it is not. I replaced gas cap with Mopar unit and checked all fittings in engine bay. My pump and both filler hoses are new.

Dmg, what are most common culprits on the wrangler that you have seen cause the p0442?
