    1988 Samurai, De-Hack then Re-Hack Build

So a while back my dad decided he needed a SxS for the occasional hunting trip, he was getting tired of being muddy and cold driving the atv in colorado in november. That was until he saw the prices of them... So I somewhat jokingly suggested that he just get an old samurai instead for cheaper, and enjoy heat and a radio.

Well, about a month ago he ends up buying this off craigslist! So, guess who gets to do the rehab on this project... He wants to flat tow it to CO, then use it on the OHV/jeep trails for an elk hunt.

Paid 1000 for it, certainly has some ghetto fab in it. Little bit of crustiness, but definitely not the worst. Engine would pop on spray but not stay running. Turns out the new fuel pump wasn't installed straight, and that was causing the lack of fuel and a pretty major oil leak. Popped it back on and it was off and running with old gas!

Brake line is blown out, going to need all those replaced. New fuel lines, and an elbow on the tank return line is leaking. Springs are pretty pooched and bent, need to find some stock ones to put in. Want to lower it down a little actually, probably put stock shackles on. Whole bunch of other stuff. Haven't begun digging into it too much, but just ordered a bunch of crap from rock auto.

Nice find for $1000. That looks like it'll keep you occupied for a while.

Thing looks pretty sweet, I would say you got a pretty good deal. More importantly do I spy a hunting shack in the background?

Haha, yeah that's his hunting tower, good for sniping coyotes.

So started tearing into things, of course the rust is always a bit worse than it first appears.

    Front springs are tweaked.

    One of the worst spots

Top is completely rotted where the hardtop was sitting, will need to redo the whole side.

Rockers are breezy, but some angle iron should cover it.
