What happened to your 4.0? I’ve been looking for a cheap rebuild candidate for mine.

Run some seafoam in the oil and change it, it helped my sticky lifter issue.

What did you see when you popped the valve cover off? I’m interested, where you located?

    Allison park

nothing. oil looks clean. no sludge, tight push rods and i can't move the rockers so i think the lifters are good. my guess is broken piston skirt.

Sounds like it could be a good rebuild candidate (depends on what damage the piston did). Let me know when your ready to get rid of it and if you need a hand with the swap I would gladly help you out (will need some notice though your a little bit of a drive from Latrobe).
