I'm going to agree with you, the 5.7 and 4.7 are both smaller displacement, higher powered and technically more fuel "efficient" than their preceeding engines (5.9 and 5.2 respectively).

I was beginning to wonder if anyone was going to snip at that bait, ironic it was you, considering we've not always agreed

That said my dad had a 4.7 V8 (non HO) on nothing but a BB and 31.3(inch's) WJ which showed up the majority of rigs around it... Frankly, it was unstopable in comparison, but I could argue that my dad is a damned good driver. Now he's running a 5.7 WK first year, which might not be a SFA rig outflexing other rigs, but it's tried and true in Coloardo and Moab at this point, not to mention towing my trailer home when my diesel starter broke 200 miles from here. It might have not stopped / handled well being short and all, but hey, it pulled like a motherfawker...

Those of you that know me, know that I hold no grudge against any brand, so why should I hold one againt the already proven 4.7 and 5.7?

So my point is... What's wrong with the 4/5.7?

x2. 185k on mine and it's still running strong (though the same can't be said of the body -- I hate rust!!). Not as powerful as it was on day one -- but definitely gives me the power when I need it. I've also found my gas mileage (with the 5.2L) to be very comparable to what I've heard a lot of 4.0L ZJ owners get.

Personally, I think v8's are just as reliable if not more than chevy and ford...more stock power, you bet...but as i stated before when it comes to fuel efficiency, mopar really needs to sit down and figure something out.
