    Meatloafs build up thread

Over the weekend Kyle (meatloaf), Chris(98XJchris), and Matt(Krod), and myself went to Kyles house to work on his "new" jeep. I wont go into detail of whats going on (ill leave that up to Kyle) but he is basically rebuilding the whole damn thing.

This past weekend we got the tub bedlined and got some other parts ready to paint........ but first we had to try and kill the good ole 2.5L in his old Jeep..... but it just would not die...... videos 5, 6, and 7 are the best here http://s164.photobucket.com/albums/u.../Kyles%20Jeep/

ohh and thanks again for the great food Kyle..... slobbins had me pratically running up to my dorm today so i could have some one on one time with the water closet if u know what i mean.....

Its coming along slowly but surely. here's a run down of what I'm doing:

    4.7L stroker
    nv3550
    D300

New D44 front out of a waggy(pass drop). 4.88's, high steer, OX Locker.

    Re-using the D44 rear, 4.88's and already OX'd

Starting with a rust free body and frame. custom shock hoops and cross memebers. track bar

if money doesn't run out, I'm gonna put a custom cage in it and some seats.

    should turn out pretty sweet.

i've gotta get the frame done, then it'll be ready to bolt stuff together. plus i gotta get parts. but yea it should start coming togething in about a month.

oats: call me up man, i'm always home on the weekend working on the heep.

Some more progress the last couple weeks.

I hate those damn nuts inside the frame. so I welded some tubing in where the steering box bolts to the frame(so I can put a bolt all the way through the frame)

made these shackle mounts up at work:

I moved the shackle mount back 1/2". this was done to help with shackle inversion.
    Mock up:
    Bad shackle angle:

    Try again....still not right:

    perfect:

Aproximate angle when spring is flat:

    all welded up:

    replacing the rear cross memeber.
    torched the stock one out:

I'm an animal with the torch

cut the notch for the x-memeber with a cut off wheel

the cross member itself. a piece of 2x4 3/16" thick.

welded some tubing in for the bolts that hold the bumper on.

All finished. sorry, the frame is upsidedown.

Got my pistons this week. Gonna start mocking up the engine next weekend hopefully. also weld the shock mounts and rear shackle mounts on next week.

Yeah stock cross members BLOW!!! Way too thin, and dont support much weight at all... Scary if you ask me.

only problem with the cross member I did is the body mounts are gone(no way to mount them). but on my old Jeep they were rusted away anyway and didn't have a problem with them.

I also got my crank yesterday(thanks Pat!). Hopefully be mocking up the engine next sat to check deck/piston clearence.
