factory RAH MP3 player for Jeep

i really want to upgrade my headunit in my jeep but i dont want an aftermarket headunit because i like the factory look...but i want to be able to play MP3's...what a mess...

so mopar came out with this factory headunit called the RAH, which is a radio, and also plays CD's and MP3's...so i really want it the only thing is, it is expensive as hell...$425.00 retail...ouch...

i found it on this site for around $390, here is the link

    http://jeep.dealerfit.com/store/jeep...od204_6182.php

does anybody know where i could score this for less...i tried ebay and they dont have any.

or even if someone worked for Mopar and could hook me up. this would be a great upgrade for the jeep but i cant see spending 400 just to play MP3's

    agree???

I can't seem to find a RAH radio at all in my Mopar Accessory Databook. It looks similar to all the other radios they offer but there is nothing listed for a Wrangler that plays MP3 CDs.

$390 isn't a bad price, that's our trade price (for the radios with the same retail) which is generally the cheapest I can ever discount stuff.

EDIT: I found it in some of the older books, but the part number won't come up as having any in the warehouses. Someone must have them stocked somewhere because they don't seem to be in production anymore. The dealer cost on it was $340.

That's insane. I'd be hooking my Ipod up with a car kit or something. I'll never buy another aftermarket radio again, until I can cough up the cash for an in-dash navigation unit. Every other unit has pretty much all the features I prefer. Sirius, MP3/WMA CD, along w/ an aux input for a little more than 1/2 the cost, and the plus that it isn't shitty DC electronics.
If I wanted to hear from an ass, I'd fuckin fart.

i've got mine out of my 07. single disc but it plays mp3's, has the aux jack, etc. i'm not sure how hard it would be to fit in.

i'd take 50 bucks for it.

i bought a factory sirius mp3/cd player with aux input for my rig, that's why i'd sell the factory one from mine.

you can pick em up pretty cheap and they sound pretty good, just no sub outs or anything.

    Jerome,

I got a kenwood head unit about a month ago for under 120, plays mp3s, wave files, has the ipod port and all. The reason I bought it though (i don't have an ipod and have no intentions of buying one) is that it has a usb port on the front of it - you can just plug in a flash drive and it's the same as an ipod. Great for offroad when your cds skip. It is also hd and satellite ready.

I agree that the stock head unit looks great, but as mentioned, the quality's not the greatest.

Yea, that's where I got it. I got it on black friday though, I've kept an eye on it to see how good of a deal it was, haven't seen it drop below 145.

The flash drive was a huge upgrade from my tape deck, much better for wheeling.

Does it just play the songs in the order they are on the flash drive, or can you navigate through them? A buddy of mine just got this and I was curious when we were looking at it.

That's a good question, I haven't tried to fast forward through them yet.

My kenwood has its usb socket on a cord that way you can put it where you want and it works very well.

it's removable. 90% of the time i don't even have it in there. i only use it for when I'm offroading. all it is is a slot in the faceplate, mine has a plastic door that slides over it to protect it from dust and water. other than that, i'm playing burnt cds or mp3s on it.

if it's an issue, I believe you could put a usb cord in there like spyder's talking about.

I got a walymart special AM/FM, CD, MP3, has a input jack, a USB port and a SD card slot. I use a SD card when I'm wheelin and have th XM in the input, and it dont sound too bad with the wallymart special speakers. I think I have 150.00 in the entire system.
