(Tire question) Stuck between tire sizes

ok heres the deal, im running 33's right now, and I need to regear and buy tires at the same time...

Should I just suck it up and get my 35's now and struggle to move the jeep until I can regear? Or should I get another set of 33's and buy the 35's later?

The price difference between the 33's and 35's are around $65.

Im sticking with my MTZ's because they are an awesome tire, and wear great when mah heep is aligned right.

I plan to regear the Jeep SOON (income tax refund) so I would basically have to push around on 35's for max 2 months. I put around 200 miles on the jeep a week. Im just worried about how bad my mileage would be if I jumped up to 35's with stock gears for those few months that im not geared right. A buddy of mine ran around on 35's with 3.55's and he said it was possible, but wouldnt recomend it.

    Thoughts?

Is this thing still your daily driver and will be for some time, or are you DD the other green one you bought?

If it's your DD, I would stick with the 33's. With gas prices the way the are, I would hate to have to run around with 35's every where I went.

Buy the 35's then gear when asap. It will make you appreciate the new gears that much more, once you put them in.....

I think if you are going to do it anyway then go with the 35s now. You have an auto so that will ease the pain in the "dealing with 35s category."

Just do it... Financially it is the smart thing to do.

Can't you just stick with the 33's you have on now until you re-gear in a few months??? You already answered it:--->

So, yes, I agree, don't waste the $$ on the 33's if you are definitely getting 35's anyway...

When I went to 35s it made everything locally seem too easy. Now I like having them in the really hard stuff (RC, the Badlands, some of the stuff I saw at Rock Run), but for the stuff I normally run 90% of the time 33s made them more challenging (more fun).

When I'm rich I'll have a big rig and a small one. Did you look around for a used set of 33s to get you by for a while?

Are you going to bumpstop the rear any?

I have a feeling 35"s are going to rub pretty good without some sort of bumpstop/trim.

My votes for 35"s. Im sure the heep can handle the little increase in tire size until you can regear....But i'd suggest maybe picking up an aftermarket trans cooler; unless you want to be swapping a transmission as well.

run the 33's until you have the $$ for the regear AND the tires.

Or make me a convincing offer on the yj! It gets better mileage than your XJ anyway

    wishing it was gone sometimes...yea

At this rate it'll probably hang around until i finish this semester, since it DOES work pretty reliably. But its in serious need of a new frame, and the space to do said-frame-swap. Plus the 70 mile drive everyday for work is making me want a TDi or a subie pretty bad.

i ran 35's with 3.73's and a 5spd in my TJ. it was defenitely rough, but doable. I lost 5th on the highway sometimes, but sometimes i could get into it.

i had to follow another car to keep it in 5th the whole time.

if it won't be too long you could get away with 35's.

Get the 35's I ran 35" on my 95 XJ auto with 3.54 gears for awhile and it worked. Just dont put it in OD ever. I ran about 1900 rpms at 70 in drive with 3.54 and 35's
