    Lift Install ....... Good Shop

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew of any good shops in the Pittsburgh area that do good work and are reasonably priced? I'm looking to get a 2"-3" lift installed on a 2003 nissan pathfinder. The lift consists of 4 coil springs, 2 rear shocks, 2 front struts, and possibly some front strut spacers. How much would this run me to get installed? Thanks.

I am not a big Nissan guy, but I am sure there are places in the area that could install the lift without much of a problem. If you have not already done so you may want to check out the local Xterra Forums at:

Dana (Powerguy) runs the show over there and they have a ton of good Nissan-based info.

Thanks man. The problem is because the Pathfinder uses front struts and when you put the lift in it messes up all the alignment and you have to have a shop that is really good at alignments.

If you have any mechanical ability, and some tools, you could probably pull the install off on your own. Chances are, you're gonna end up taking it to a separate shop for an alignment anyways, as most shops that will install a lift for you aren't going to have an alignment rack. If they tell you they do, chances are, they're subbing it out and making money off of it also.

I'd say if you can, do the work on your own, learn your vehicle some, and save some serious cash.

I would have to agree with Steve there. There are plenty of local shops that will be able to align your vehicle. I am assuming that the lift installation wouldn't be too difficult.

4 wheel drive did mine for free when i purchased my Rubicon Express. I should note though that this was in Colorado. I purchased alot of stuff at once: kit, 5x tires, other odds and ends and they threw a free install in.

My only problem is that I don't have alot of the tools nesecary to do the install. I could probaly do the rears no problem but the front would probaly be a little harder because of the struts. For the alignment I need this http://www.4x4parts.com/public_html/...3b0f35c7518eeb
would that make the alignment any harder?

4WD Hardware in Columbiana doesn't do installs. I asked about 3 months ago. FYI.

Only if you want more problems than you have time to deal with. They suck ass, can't say I've ever heard one single good thing about them, or had any good personal experience with them. I'll always turn people away, and you'll most likely hear many others here say the same.

If you do it yourself you will know alot more about what your rig can handle. I highly recommend doing the install yourself.

If not, BigFoot on Greensburg road up here has always dont pretty good work for cheap. I used to buy a ton of parts from them and the owner is pretty cool.

If it were a jeep I would have recommended Stull Automotive in Leechburg.

I once rented a spring/strut compressor from Advance. They will charge you a deposit -- but you get that all back when you return it so the tool rental is essentially free. The deposit, of course, is to make people actually return the tools. I think the deposit I paid was $40.

That is correct. All you do is leave a security depoit for the tool and when youre done take it back and get the deposit back. I've done it several times.

Just be careful with the spring compressors, they can be very dangerous.
