XJ Only (Odd Sound after Shutdown)

OK, I called a few of you guys to ask about this allready, but I wanted to spread the word.

Lets get a bit of a background first... I have owned 3 XJ's so far, a 93, 96, and the 01. I havent spent enough time in the 95 to know if it happens in this one yet.

Basically after driving around for an extended period of time, after shutdown, a noise will come from under the dash. I wish I could describe it but words elude me... Me personally I have always just ignored it, the noise scares the hell out of anyone that has ever sat in my Jeep and I have left (Like when going to prepay for gas).

Just wanted to see what you guys thought, or if any of you have heard this in your Jeeps.

If the heats on could be something decompressing. Not sure though, sometimes I can hear relays clicking but that wouldn't be enough to scare anyone.

I have no clue what the sounds is...It must be something they did in the later models though because I know my 93 and Seths 92 never made that noise.

Its an odd deep buzzing sound that only lasts like 1-2 seconds. I think it happened like 1-2 minutes after you shut the jeep off.

The first time I heard it was in your 96

So your 01 is making the noise now?

Got some help from another site, heres what I have so far:

Mine isn't all that loud or anything, but it is weird when I hear it.

It's only when my lights are left on, though, so I don't know if it is a buzzer that just doesn't work right or what. It's been that way ever since I bought it at 47k miles. Startles you though when it happens.
I never realized if it happens when the lights are left on or not, but ill def. have to check it out.

Relax folks, it's just the flux capacitor discharging.

But it's OK, because I found you instructions to build a brand-new one for cheap, but should be newer and quiter! http://www.rookscastle.com/tutorials/time4.html

J does your XJ have the automatic headlight off after a few seconds thing?

Could be the timer. But I don't follow the Uni-Jeeps as closely...so who knows

IDK, might be the timer, im not worried about it really, NorthFaceZJ keeps bugging me about it, so I posted it up because it does seem a bit odd that I have owned 3 Jeeps and its done it in every single one of them...

Hey Krod figure out that rust issue yet? My uniHeep doesnt have that issue....
