    Worlds largest shotgun shell...

    wow....
This video shows what must be the world’s largest shotgun shell: the 120mm canister round designed for the cannon of an M1 Abrams tank. The 50 pound shell contains 1150 .40 caliber tungsten pellets launched at 4500 fps, with an effective range of 500 yards

I was in the military and got to see and shoot a lot of cool guns. I could not see the need for this. It will do some damage to a person but what else would you use it for?

    sounds like anti-personel to me

1 shot with 1150 .40 cal rounds going downrange can wipe out a large advance of infantry . . . .

just my .02. i have no background in this, just thinking outloud.

That is badass! 4500 fps is faster than any rifle cartrige you can buy. It is the modern equivalent of grapeshot.

The energy of a single .223 bullet = 1282 foot pounds.

The energy of a single AK-47 round = 1552 foot pounds.

The energy of a 12-gauge shotgun slug = 2739 foot pounds.

The energy of one .40 caliber projectile (apx. 165 grain weight) traveling at 4500 fps = 7419 foot pounds. That M1 shell is firing 1150 of them... at a dispersal of about 30 yards diameter a hundred yards downrange.

    Wow.
