    Question XJ Lift Kits

Hey there guys, I need an opinion on lift kits. I have a '96 2dr XJ and I'd like to know who you guys thought to have the best 4"-5" COMPLETE lift kit out there at a reasonable price. One that includes springs, NOT AAL kits! This thing is bone stock right now, and I'm not looking for all the bells and whistles (short arm/long arm) just something to get it up to clear 31's for now and eventually 33's later on. It's the daily driver and will have limited trail use for now. Skyjacker, bds, OME, superlift, RE, rocky-road outfitters, full traction, etc. Too many to list!! HELP!!!!! What's your experience?? Thanks!!

I like RE, BDS, and Clayton. The others seem to lack in the "complete" category.

you can buy a kit but why not build your own.

    Coils
    Leafs
    Shackles
    SYE
    Sway Bar Disco's
    Upper Control Arms
    Lower Control Arms
    ect....

Start your own excel spread sheet and spec the stuff out and find out what you want and slowly put it all together.

RE is probably the most popular if you ask most people.

but I've personally seen a 4.5" Rough Country do pretty well also even though I never expected much from it.

    Rough Country 4.5"
    31"s

    35"s

    RE 4.5" (jeepxj3's ride)
    31"s

I agree with what jason said. You can mix match different parts and get a better deal and really a better lift in the end.

If your only planning on running 31"s the RE superflex kit is real nice and will give you ample room for 31"s and 33"s with a little trimming. If your looking for something a little cheaper, Rustys makes a decent kit too. Just make sure you get full packs and not AAL's.

Yup. I was shocked the first time riding in a XJ with Clayton's -- rides like a Cadillac (literally). For the quality of the parts and ride, I would definitely consider the price to be "reasonable". Well worth saving up another month or few IMO -- especially for a daily driver.

I personably have liked the ride and performance of the RE lifts with the long arm kits...

But I think a lot depends on what you want to spend, and in the end it always comes down to whatever make you, the owner, happy.

Anyone running Rocky-Road Outfitter's stuff? How about Old Man Emu? Doing some searches on the internet says OME springs are really, really good.

OME is overpriced and overrated. Their shit is decent, but there is nothing that makes it better than any other quality manufacturer. RRO has its share of trouble with customer service. I'd shy away from them, unless of course you like horrible customer service, and awful lead times.
